Xbox live arcade has recently become home to a number of HD updates and re-releases of classic arcade titles, the success of each release varying, and the trend doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon as the latest title to hit Xbox live arcade is the classic 1992 Konami side scroller X-men.
Selecting from the familiar faces of Nightcrawler, Dazzler, Cyclops, Colossus, Storm and Wolverine players embark on a stroll through memory lane as they battle the forces of Magneto through 8 stages. Each stage ends with a battle against recognisable enemies such as The Juggernaut and Mystique. The basic gameplay is loyal to that of the source material as player’s battle through stages using jump and ground attacks as well as mutant powers which differ from character to character (Nightcrawlers still being the perfect blend of damage and chaos). The combat may be simple but that doesn’t stop it from being just as addictive and fun as it was back in the arcades, only this time it won’t cost you 50p a pop. The biggest addition to this re-carnation is the addition of both online and offline multiplayer co-op which allows for up to 6 players to play at a time. Playing the game with buddies online adds a whole new level of fun and surprisingly runs rather well apart from the odd bit of slowdown in places. Multiplayer may be the best way to play X-Men but that doesn’t mean playing the game solo is a choir, far from it.
This could be fun as they make great tables. Go big or go extinct. Prime your senses for a neural handshake and step into the cockpit of a Jaeger. It is on you to cancel the apocalypse when Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX on May 16.
Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.
Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
