The world’s largest online retailer Amazon has listed the 160GB slim model of the PlayStation 3 for an unbelievable price.
I think this seems due for an official price-drop. I bought one at the end of last week and the retailer I got it from had it reduced too as did some others (not as low as this, but still I was expecting to have to pay around €300).
Yeah it's a given. Same thing happened a few months before the Slim released almost every retailer started doing some kind of "deal" on the PS3. When it gets more and more common to see deals like these then you know that SONY is ready to announce a price drop.
Perhaps, Sony is ready to introduce revised, and remodeled version that cant be hacked. hackers already discussed that Sony can stop hacking through revision. so this is entirely possible and maybe they are having discounts to get rid of old models.
... getting released here in Europe. I sure as hell hope so. Would be nice if the PS3 gets another price-drop or cool bundles, with a new color as well! That means I might upgrade my 80GB FAT to a 320GB slim.
if they release a white model. id bite.
@DCOwner Very interesting theory, very plausible.
Man I would do anything for a Blue Titanium color PS3 like Japans GT5 PS3 bundle!
yeah good price
lol look at the comments on the article wtf?
Ya the most immature people in the world haha.
was on amazon few min. ago spotted 60gb FACTORY sealed ps3 for 4,599.00 haaaha who in the hell would buy that??? not me. pawnshop 150.00
below 200 though, thats pretty good for a price drop
I had no idea the PS3 was still so expensive in the UK. Equivalent to like $400 american. This price is more like $339 if I remember my currency conversions correctly.
Pretty much everything costs more here. You'll be surprised at how much we pay for fuel.
they rised fuel prices here :( super petrol became 0.27$/L when it was 0.22$/L
Lol, we pay about 1gbp / L
this shows what we pay http://www.petrolprices.com...
about 1 gbp/l??? where are you buying your petrol! It's a touch under £1.30 here D: Damn you America with your cheap everything :P
1.62euro here in germany...
We pay $2.95 in Houston.
It was $3.22 the other day here in Michigan.
The N4G Article Comments Come for the intelligent and respectful discussion... stay for the regional gas price updates.
$3.71 for 91 octane here in Los Angeles. California has it worse then any other mainland state.
Thank god my FTL drive doesn't run on petrol... ;)
RBdrift 91 Octane? Are your octane ratings different from the UK? We can't even buy anything as low as 91 in the UK.
@ RBdrift LOL $3.71 per U.S. Gallon is cheap compared to what people in Canada and Europe pay. There are 4 Liters in 1 U.S. Gallon, and here in Vancouver 87 Octane gas is around $1.22 CDN per Liter. Right now the Canadian Dollar is about 95 cents U.S. If I was paying the prices you pay for gas, it would cost about 93 cents per Liter. Once you guys get up to $5 per U.S. Gallon, then you should be paying the prices that the rest of the western world pays. @The Meerkat 87 Octane is the lowest in North America. Something you will also find over here is that Diesel is not very big over here as compared to Europe.
UK petrol starts at 95 Octane and 97-99 for 'Super'. BP also do a 102 Octane but last I saw that was £2.50 per ltr!
we pay less than 5.00$ for 15L in KSA
Recently I've watched the oil price drop while our currency rises and gas prices stay the same! They don't even care anymore; people in Canada can't go to the corner store without their car! I take transit 3 months a year to work and walk many kilometers every day! I would drive less, but insurance costs are just stupid and I don't want to pay lots of money to "not drive"!
If you guys are interested in lower fuel prices, look up LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas). Once you convert your car, its on average about 70p a litre and you can run it alongside your ordinary fuel ;)
Why we call it rip off Britain, you wanna see our petrol prices...
I wouldn't say we're ripped off, just look at the prices of games in Australia and New Zeland
I think it's more around £196 = $320.
*Blows head off*
$960 for iPhone 4 WTF...
The iPhone 4 is £612 in the UK. Convert £612 = $994 as of today.
Is that with out without the subsidized phone plan? I am thinking you are basically getting the unlocked phone. But then again, I could be wrong about that. @on topic I am surprised Sony is becoming aggressive with their business strategy with the PS3. All it means, more people can enjoy the games the company has to offer throughout the rest of the year.
- That's Pay As You Go. You're not on a plan, but you're still locked to one carrier until you pay to have your phone unlocked. And the only decent plans (in regards to how many minutes and texts you get per month) are £40/$65 per month, and you have to pay £45/$60 for the iPhone itself before the plan even starts... ...and that's a 2 year long plan. Coming to a total of $1680 in total. That's for the iPhone 4 and the 24 month long plan. I don't think Apple really cares about the UK to be honest.
Seems very likely. I got the same from Tesco for £189 yesterday actually. BTW guys 20% off ALL Gaming items there until end of the month!
Oh yeah? I need to go there tomorrow
Yep. http://direct.tesco.com/hom... :-)
I go to Tesco for my games. They are normally a lot cheaper than GAME or Gamestation, especially on release day. Tesco did COD:BO for £25 if you got a £20 PSN top-up and MoH for £28, with the same £20 PSN offer(release day). Asda are also quite good with prices on games that have been out a month or two. I have seen games for £25 only a few weeks after release, I got Blur and Split/Second for £25 each only two weeks after release.
ASDA are good sometimes, but shocking at ohers. I got Dead Rising 2 and did not like it, traded it at ASDA and got Fifa 11 on release night for less then the price of a cheeseburger lol
Is my bag, I got Black ops and FIFA on day of release for £26 each and didn't have to buy PSN or xbox live points, you just have to buy your shopping there and spend £30 on it, which we obviously do for a weeks shop, great deals.
I recently picked another one up for $299 with $50 best buy gift card
Just checked Amazon uk, nice to see the PS3 doing so well. :) Move #7 too! :o
Great deal no doubt. However, Amazon match other online retailers so here they are matching Tesco. They have matched 360 slim also so dont think its pre empting a price drop
i think the ps3 will get a price drop this year at e3.
I bought my 250GB PS3 Slim for £200 from eBay.. I've had it for at least a year now, Still working fine as well. Can't remember when I purchased it though. :)
Good thing you picked up before the whole custom firmware thing. I don't think I'd buy a used PS3 now.
Am gonna get myself 10 of those bad boys lol.
since we're talking prices...I live in trinidad and tobago. the echange rate is 1usd to 6ttd. PS3=$3500 PS3 GAME=$500 iphone $7500
He's not lying. The way they price things here is brutal. T and T sucks.
Are wages ~10 times higher as well? If not... damn 0.0 P.S. Showing my complete lack of geographical knowledge here :)
Minimum wage is approx. 13 tt dollars here. Shit really sucks dude. which is probably why piracy is rampant here. Everywhere you go there vendors on the streets selling pirated movies. Stores selling pirated games and modded consoles. but even though it's pirated consoles are still expensive as hell.
Wow that thing is amazingly slim...
N4G has turned into one big ad space for Playstation.
Have a look at Clas Ohlson (UK,Swe,NO,FIN) We've been selling it for that price since christmas
im glad i bought my 80 gig original when i did :) its a dead SKU but it was the best one they made IMO. Backwards compat. is a big deal to me personally. So many great PS2 games.
imo the best ps3 was the 1st gen 60gb
Nothing can beat the original. 60 gb FTW!!!!
Nice drop, although Amazon has a better deal here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Son... So it's over £30 more at £228, though this gets you the 320GB model and LittleBigPlanet 2, which is certainly more of a bargain compared to the £196 PS3 Slim 160GB, with nothing extra.
I dont think that the prize is such a bargain rather expensive compared to the prize we have for that modell here
A bargain compared to regular UK price.
i just bought a ps3 if sony go and release ANOTHER ps3 sku (superior,) i swear i will never buy another console again. sony need to stop taking consumers for fools
I fail to see how they've took them for fools. They all play and do the same thing. The only thing that really changes now is the hard drive size. I would hardly call them superior SKUs.
hard drives,connect-ability and if they re-design, then obviously the style etc. they take consumers for fools because they have one sku on the market, then release another one with the said superior features. if the consumer knew this before-hand, they would obviously wait for the new sku to come out. i thought that was the whole point in consoles... the simplicity. this whole numerous sku bollocks is... well, bollocks.
