If you're late to the party, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is the latest brainchild of Nintendo of Japan and developer Paon, best known for the DK: King of Swing and DK: Jungle Climber on GBA and DS respectively. The game is a departure from classic Donkey Kong gameplay, instead adopting what was originally going to be GameCube bongo control, similar to something like DK Jungle Beat or Donkey Konga. With the hype train taking off on Wii, however, Barrel Blast was pushed to Wii along with Super Paper Mario, in hopes of capitalizing on the larger audience.
Today Nintendo of Japan divulged some new screenshots of the banana-hunting gorilla's first Wii game, Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (otherwise known as DK Bongo Blast or Donkey Jet).
Nintendo officially states that the following games will be coming out for Wii in Japan in 2007:
Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (DK Jet or DK Bongo Blast, US) - June 28, 2007
Wii Health Pack -- 2007
Disaster: Day of Crisis - 2007
Mario Party 8 - 2007
Project H.A.M.M.E.R. - 2007

The Marii console is filled, this 2007, with very happy Mario fans for sure. Mario Party 8, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Strikers Charged, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. Wow! how much Mario can a Wii gamer handle?
I would say almost everyone of those titles will pass the 1 million mark rather quickly.
Also having all these titles release in Japan will insure Nintendo stays on top throughout the end of 07.
Makes me wonder what huge releases Nintendo has left for 2008. A new Zelda? A new Mario Paint? Hmm...
The latest issue of Japanese publication Famitsu magazine disclosed new details regarding Donkey Kong Bongo Blast. The game, which Nintendo initially intended to release on GameCube with support of the bongos controller peripheral, will now release on Wii later this year.
According to Famitsu, Bongo Blast will have players racing through seven worlds and sixteen courses using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control their character. Players will shake the controllers to accelerate, and turn by placing more emphasis on one controller over the other. Jumps are accomplished by raising both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. In addition to the single-player mode, Bongo Blast will also include a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players.
I really don't think using the word "Bongo" fits anymore. If we're just using our Wiimotes now, then why am I playing a game titled 'DK Bongo Blast'? How about, "DK Try To Imagine Your Wiimote Is A Bongo Blast."
i don't know but sounds kinda lame. can you say arm cramps. seems like a rayman raving rabbid rip, ('carrying the present in a foot race to the finish line' minigame). it's better off a bongo game, hence that's what it was developed for. f*ck these gc ports.
