Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Online Problems

If you've been playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3 online--or trying to--you've likely had an experience similar to ours. Lost connections and an irritating cycle of menus have kept us offline in the days following the game's release. Fortunately, Capcom's aware of the issues on PS3 and Xbox 360 and assures us that a fix is on the way.

So far lobbies have been okay for me, but when it came to ranked it seems like I failed to connect to a few rooms here and there.

yea I hate MVC3 Ranked Online Lobbies; it reminds me more of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2's lobby system; another piece of doodoo online lobby for a fighting game.

capcom took 4 steps back with this one; they were going down the right path with Super Street Fighter IV; ranked lobbies should be more like the Player Lobbies; it's pointless to have to keep searching for people like that and get forced to go back out into the main menu ...

I spend more time in player matches and player lobbies than ranked games ... and even when you get into one ... it's the same crap of; Sentinel, Doom (hidden missiles), Dante over and over again.

very good fighting game but the online does really suck so far.

Yeah I agree with the sentiment that they took some steps back in this game, BUT at least we will hopefully get it later on down the line. I guess if everyone cries out the same we'd get it perhaps. Similar to how if everyone cries out for the same characters on the capcom unity we could get those characters to.

I've gotten so used to them because a friend kept using Sentinel, Doom and Phoenix. Sometimes Dante as well they are really easy when you have She-hulk and utilize her Heavy Strike move [the hard attack one] or Chun-li. If you chain all of Chun's combos together and use Kikosho after almost each one Sentinel is easy.

Though yeah really fun game, but the online aspect has kept me from doing a lot of ranked which is what I usually did in Super a few days after release.

HOW TO GET INTO RANKED MATCHES (sorry for Caps Lock but I know that it will stand out)

DON'T go into online play and search for a ranked match. If you do that you will never find one. The secret is to go into offline play and into either Arcade mode or Training mode. After you pick a team and are choosing the options (in Arcade it will be difficulty/timer and in training it will be what map) at the very bottom it says Fight Request. Go down to that and change it from Off to Ranked Match. After that start it up and wait for it to find a match for you. I've never had trouble when doing that, and it actually finds matches faster for me.

yea only lobbies seem to work for me ranked and player take at least 8 tries to get into a match but even then all i see is zero dante and wesker
