"It seems as if every other day, a story comes out about how the hackers are going to make life miserable for the ordinary gamer on the PlayStation 3 all because Sony is a technology bully. Now, a lot of these stories are potentially exaggerated, sensationalized, or even flat out untrue. Nevertheless, some of the concepts that are coming out may not turn out to be so far fetched after all. The ethos of the hacker usually resides in the premise that everything should be open and free. Who of us has not downloaded pirated music before, so I can’t sit here and point fingers at Geohot for what he did to the PS3, but at what point do the actions of a few start to infringe on the rights of the many? When it does, expect public sentiment to dissipate completely. Here is why we think the hackers are not doing us any favors right now."
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki and CFO Lin Tao talked about the state of the PlayStation business and the strategy and targets going forward, including how they're responding to the tariffs.
Sony announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2024, and things are certainly looking up, despite a decline in PS5 sales.
If their profits fall next quarter, we'll probably see more price hikes. I can't imagine having to pay £20 a month for PlayStation Plus.
Decline in hardware sales.
Behind on lifetime sales and decline in first party sales.
Third party content and PSN came through to save the day.
Things will improve starting with the next Ghost game.
Hopefully a steady flow of first party content by end of '25
PlayStation 5 has shipped 77.8 million units worldwide, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2025.
very nice.
in almost 5 years too.
some big hitters are yet to come
All the more reason we need more violence in our society. A nice ass whooping would settle these hackers down, especially if you smash their precious overclocked piece of crap over their head.
Double post, my bad.
Fuck em, fuck em.
If anything, it's brought the community together. There are those of us with technical jobs, network security experience, coding experience, etc that aren't going to just sit and take it. We're also smart enough to not fall for FUD. If anyone has a problem with that, hack my PSN account and get CC info or ban me. I DARE you.
I don't think "helping the SONY community" has EVER even crossed hackers' minds in the first place
