Check this comparison gallery between the two Elder Scrolls titles Oblivion and its successor Skyrim. How big is the graphical leap? Or is there any?
IGN : How does the new The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, released in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PS5, compare to the original 2006 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion released on Xbox 360, played via Xbox Series X/S Backwards Compatibility?
With The Elder Scrolls 6 still far into the future fans have been taking matters into their own hands with projects like Skyblivion.
Skyblivion remakes Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, and the huge mod is nearing completion, but the team could use some assistance.
let's hope the character models and animations are a bit... well, better this time around.
I love the obligatory cleavage comparison. XD
I put so much time into the first, I'd honestly pay for more of exactly the same, so any improvement is simply a bonus for me, graphical or otherwise.
It was probably the best value £40 I have ever spent.
Saying all that, it is nice to see that they have worked on character models and general landscaping, it's all looking particularly pretty, and the PC version on high specs should look stunning, especially with the numerous mods that will no doubt improve textures etc.
Very excited. That and ME3 in the same month. Awesome.
All i want is, bring back open cities, jump and levitation... and (I know this is already done from screenies) more unique landscape's like Morrowind. Also don't use level scaling from oblivion, use it from Fallout if you have too. Then this game is perfect.
I wouldn't call this a face-off. Just a comparison. Must be a slow news day.
