GamerNode's Mike Murphy writes: "Gamer culture often honors the strong, male heroes of the medium, but what about the best leading ladies, the best heroines? And by 'best,' I don't mean sexy, hot, or overly ridiculous. No, these heroines are true to the definition. These are characters who show strength, fear, and concern, instill hope, and embody all the things that a female lead should. You won't find characters here with absurd bodily proportions (Lara Croft, Bayonetta, Tifa Lockheart) or annoyingly optimistic and/or flirtatious attitudes (Rikku, Vanille, Bayonetta again), and they also aren't the ones who are constantly in need of rescue from their captors (Princess Peach, Princess Zelda)..."
Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
Kazuyuki Shindo, who worked on games including Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy XIII, and SaGa: Emerald Beyond, has left Square Enix.
The PlayStation 3 is Sony’s most interesting home console ever, but what’s most interesting of all is trying to nail down the very best games on a console with hundreds of incredible games. Let’s give it a shot.
Sly Thieves in Time
Stay the Party
Portal 2
Dj Hero
Demon’s Souls
God of war Ascension
I've noticed a recent nostalgia for the PS3 and I don't get it for me it's been my least favourite generation to date and I've been gaming since the NES I just feel like the ambition of the developers outweighed the capabilities of the consoles so I remember lots of games running in the lower end of 20fps range and I remember for the first time ever actually disliking the duelshock 3 and it's curved triggers
Sure there were some standouts and great games but that's the only gen I switched entirely to PC gaming
Big ups to Jade. Love that chicha. Curious who were the individuals primarily responsible for her character.
The argument can be made for Chun-Li. Maybe it's just me, but I never found her to be over-sexed, to me she's just a strong martial artist. Great list as is, though I'm certain Samus would be higher, even #1 if it weren't for Other M.
The only one I don't agree with is Lightning but the rest of the list is really great, especially the top four (I'd probably pick those same four ladies for the top of my list).
