GameSpy: Test Drive Unlimited 2 Review

With development teams like Criterion and Black Rock constantly raising the bar, it's unfortunate to see a racing game as passionless as Test Drive Unlimited 2. Ambitious map size and amazing architecture (seriously, some of the purchasable homes are incredible) can't make up for lackluster racing.

I used to really like gamespy when I was a bit younger. Then the updates stopped, and there was less and less content. Soon reviews will be just 2 sentences.

This is the most wrong review of the 2011 year.

This is a kick@ass game & gamespy should be ashamed of itself!

Learn the game before you talk s***!

boring even with all its content

this game will be in bargain bin really soon

played the PC version for a couple of hours, its really rough around the edges, seems like a really bad port, I will pick up a 360 copy when it falls below £20.

Ouch! that's a kick in the nuts LOL it would be awesome to see "San Francisco Rush" make a comeback this gen

Harsh but some valid points. Still, the games fun when you can finally get into a session with friends. I'm enjoying it anyway so sod the reviews.

AngryHippo5189d ago

Couldn't agree more, sod the reviews, if you enjoy the game then that's all that matters. I'm currently loving it atm, currently rolling round Ibiza in my Nissan gtr.

Is it really that bad. I bought the first one on my ps2 and enjoyed it that much I bought it again when I got a 360?

Unnecessary question mark? Yes if you liked TDU1 you will love TDU2. I am having a hell of a good time with it.

Wrong place not unnecessary. Thanks might have to get it then.

Looking back to 2011 and the Botched Launch of Test Drive Unlimited 2

Richard writes: "The series may have a cult following, but ten years on Test Drive Unlimited 2 still upsets me. It was one of my most anticipated games ever, with a concept years ahead of what Forza Horizon could achieve. But it remains one of the buggiest launches of a game I can remember, completely tarnishing my memory of it."

Such an underrated game, the only problem I had with it was the car physics on anything more powerful the a Golf GTI. But to me this was the original Forza Horizon

Cult Classics – Test Drive Unlimited 2

Game Informer - It's hard to imagine what to do in a car game except race other cars, and yet with Test Drive Unlimited 2, developer Eden Games found a way to expand the genre's horizons enough to offer an experience that's slightly different from your average racer. Eden's ambition came with a cost, but Test Drive Unlimited 2 is a game that I remember fondly and appreciate for the chances it takes.

This game gets a bad rap, but I enjoy it still. The idea was great, I think that if the devs were just better supported it could have been something truly epic.

Would love to see something like this again, especially on a next gen console.

anyone who knows what "cult" or "classic" means.
