DC Universe Online - PS3 Review by Brash Games

It's almost exactly six years since World of Warcraft was released in Europe. In those six years, Blizzard's behemoth has conquered everything in its path, leaving a bloody cleave in the chest of every triple-A MMO that dared to challenge it. There have been a few minor successes, MMOs that have forged their own niche and remained profitable, but there are far more horror stories – games that disappeared without a trace, or collapsed under the weight of their own expectations.

If people would quit comparing this game to WoW, they would enjoy it a lot more.

Killzone 3 isn't Call of Duty, so it's no good.
DC Universe Online isn't WoW, so it's no good.

Both are ridiculous statements.

Besides, I don't think it's fair to review a game that has virtually infinite content and replay value after it's only been out for a month. Unless you've gotten to level 30 with two different characters, your opinion means nothing to me.

I agree, I notice a trend here with some negative reviews. If in the snippet of the article it had something to say about a comparison, then the review is already a fail, because it leaves the impression that the review in question had been done with nothing but what it compared it with in mind throughout the whole time. So take here for example, if the first thing this guy mentions is WoW for a DCUO review and it ends up getting a 6 then you can't help but wonder if he had a biased towards WoW. The last thing you want to do is that especially if you're going to crap on the game.

DCUO is not WoW, it's as simple as that! This game is an easy 8 for me.

I save a lot of time on figuring out if the review is worth my time to read, solely on the snippet alone. This was the case on a lot on GT5 reviews. If the snippet had something to say about the 6 years in development and it turns out to be negative review, there you go right there. You can pretty much tell the review was just going to be a hardcore nip-pick fest to warrant the game's low score.

Now sure not all the time is this proven true, but it sure as hell more common than not.

Well said, I agree with everything you said.

Agreed. The reviews for this game have had more dumb comparisons than I can even think of. I've seen someone (GiantBomb maybe?) complain the combat wasn't like GOW and Bayonetta! Wtf, why does nobody make dumb comparisons like that for other superhero games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, inFamous and Arkham Asylum?

The price too. How many of them gladly pay extra for XBox Live every year just to play games online? How many subscribe to PS Plus? How many pay $9 for Netflix every month? It's okay to subscribe to everything under the sun including premium memberships at IGN and Gamespot...but not this game.

Hell, you'd need to hit 30 with several different characters to be able to experience everything. Definitely sure none of the reviewers so far have gotten iconic tier gear and done any raiding or any PvPing at all. The current raids are brutal in some areas but fun as hell (cleared Batcave and working on Black Adam).

I'm not a comic fan at all, but still... DC has managed to hold my attention because I have an interest in FUN GAMES.

Agreed. I know nothing about the DC characters, lore or any comics in general... Never really gotten into comics. But the game is still fun as hell.

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
