Nintendo Wii 2 Release Date In 2011?

As for as consoles go OSM feels that Nintendo really needs to refurbish the Nintendo Wii, there needs to be a Wii 2 and preferably in 2011 as well. With careful timing and pricing if they were to release it towards the end of 2011 they could actually become the thorn in Sony’s side as it could dent the potential sales of the PSP2.

I see next gen consoles running at 1080p easily. A $400 dollar PC can run games at 1080p these days so consoles should as well.

I am betting E3 2011/2012 Nintendo reveals HD Wii 2 or NES 6, N6000, or whatever they can name it. At least in a hinted manner. There have been rumored talks of NVIDIA and Nintendo last year. We clearly see it had nothing to do with the 3DS now. Well anyway we can speculate it didn't. Well talks of that nature have been rumored alot last year or two for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. Sounds like a new console generation is almost done cooking if you ask me. PS4 can jump right into supported PS Move games and PS3 SDK if they model it right so its less expensive and can reach all gamers and not just the ones with doe. As well as the PS3 platform. Don't leave it behind like last time with the PS2 support. Sony should definitely keep the power level the same or greater with PS4. Same goes for Kinect. Microsoft can easily keep that tech for next generation as well. Since technically neither of those peripherals are locked into a base SDK. Its just layered into a game. Wii 2 or whatever its called will be HD sport a High end Graphics card as there will be 3-4 competitors competing to throw a top of the line card into their system. The 3DS's power is a sample of a new power system strategy from Nintendo. PSP2 and 3DS are about on the same level graphically. Which is about the same as PS3/X360. or just a hair under it.

Too Early? 5 years has been the normal release strategy and now with this generation its going to be 6 or 7 years and that is too early? Its a year or two later than last two generation's launch strategies. Sony's announcement of NGP/PSP2 kinda surprised me with the phrase this is a first in a line of new SCE products. Kinda already started hinting a new console I believe Sony has.

Next platforms either way will be sporting DirectX 11.x and Open GL 4.x
Are you not tired of 24 player matches? When you can have 64 player matches with new hardware.
The physics, destruction, and all the famous things that were promised for this generation that clearly vanished when it became a reality. Well some things did and some didn't. Still. A new generation will = another leap forward. You don't have to much to worry about graphics wise. Its getting close to hitting that wall at some point. Only a few more generations. At least 2 I say.

Better graphics: I dont think there are many who dispute that.
Controls: We'll see.
Games: Shouldn't make judgement on that yet.
Memory Format: ..ok...
Touchscreens: ........ ok........ im not sure if it really matters .....
Cameras: Does that really matter?
To go back on topic, Nintendo doesn't need to release another console this year. Simply put they dont need to at this point in time. Even though their software lineup right now isn't that great ( hopefully like last year... e3 will help out .... and we'll see plenty of new games), Next year sounds like the perfect time to do so.

I don't think that "Wii 2" will sell as fast as the Wii did. Simply because I think that many "casuals" will be content with having the Wii for a few more years. And therefor I don't believe that the Wii 2 would affect the sales of the NGP.

I don't think we will see a new Nintendo home console until 2012 or 2013 as it is still selling well and I think Nintendo would like to see what MS do with kinect and Sony do with move as this will help Nintendo decide on what to do with the next home console.

There won't be a Wii 2 just yet. Plus i doubt it'll be called the Wii 2. Nintendo don't do numbering (N64,GameCube, Wii). They'll probably release a completely new gaming system with some new revolutionary way to game like they did with the Wii.

But as sales go, they are still selling quite a lot, especially during the holiday season. Nintendo themselves said they won't release a new console too soon. They might announce one this year but i can't see it hitting stores till Late 2012/Holiday 2013

There would be sooner be a Wii slim than a Wii2, (which is probably a good idea business wise)

The Wii still prints money for nintendo, so they have no obligation to go next gen yet, in fact if it was up to them they would probably try to go next gen last because ethey are always afraid of ideas being stolen. I hope one of the ideas is spending those bags of money to make a console with impressive graphics.
