Totally agree about Kal'Reegar. One of my favorite characters in Mass Effect 2. Adam Baldwin did a terrific job for voicing the character and he should return as a squadmate.

I would think that if I spent nearly 60 hours playing a game while befriending my teammates and ensuring that they survived the final mission, that they all should be there when I boot up ME3.

I can guarantee you Mordin will be in ME3 simply because of his association with the STG and modified genophage of which will play an important part in ME3 .

would be boring if he said it that way. i think he was just attempting to be ambiguous. it's likely bioware would bring him back seeing how he is well loved by fans and the voice actor himself.
