Videogames May Get Cigarette-Like Warning Labels

1Up: If Congressman Joe Baca gets his way, videogames might one day carry warning labels on their packaging akin to the Surgeon General's Warning we see on cigarettes in the United States. Baca, a Democrat serving as a U.S. Representative for California's 43rd district, has reintroduced the Video Game Health Labeling Act by referring the bill to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

The story is too old to be commented.

Doesn't make any difference to me. In fact, if it makes stupid parent's more aware of what their dumb kids are playing, I encourage it.

It doesn't bother me either way. Like another commenter said, if it somehow reduces the likely-hood that parents will purchase M rated games for their 12 year old children then I'm all for it. After all, parents buy these games for their kids and then spend every evening screaming at them to get off of it while the children scream obscenities into the microphone. Then you hear the parents complaining about violence and bad language in video games. It's like a parent buying their 15 year old son a bottle of Jack before a 'night out' and being surprised when they see their child intoxicated, about to face-plant the pavement outside.
