Gamespot | Dead Space 2 Review

Dead Space 2 doesn't bring with it the same sense of experiencing something utterly new and innovative that its predecessor did. But it's nonetheless a terrific game, with a campaign that simultaneously leaves you satisfied and eager for more, and intense multiplayer that gives you a great reason to keep coming back to this terrifying universe. Unless you're just plain chicken, this is a sci-fi horror adventure you definitely want to suit up for.

I trust Gamespot much more than IGN. Gamespot lately have gone back to their roots which is great. Non fanboy crap that is so common to most gaming sites nowdays. They tell it how they see it as they use to.

Exacly. they also dont rush their reviews. (look at GT5. came out 2 weeks later).

Its weird though, nobody likes IGN, but when an IGN review gets up, it gets the most hottest news ever

You know why I like GameSpot more? They are more mature than IGN. They take their time with reviews at least. IGN is always blasting off like idiots while GameSpot keeps its cool.

Gametrailers said the MP was not so great either, its hit or miss, I liked it in the Beta the MP was fun even with 1 map but it doesn't have serious legs though.

I hate when they write this, because somehow, they are still giving Halo 9+, Pokemon 9+, Mario 9+, COD 9+, etc. What new and innovating are in these games to justify a consistent or higher scores than their predecessors?

If it is a good game, obviously you need to bring what it is good, and improve the faults the previous one had. I think Dead Space 2 has done that.

Yeah that really pisses me off too. The whole "No innovation=lower score" crap needs to be done away with.

the gameplay looks similar to dead space 1, and i did not like it enough to warrant a buy of the sequel

maybe its how ea is marketing it,
but im just not feeling it this time. I have both extraction and 1, but I have no urge to go and get 2. Maybe its just me.

GameSpot takes more time than IGN, but they're way too shy about giving anything above an 8.5. I've come to learn that an 8.5 is actually a 9 for GameSpot.

Great games,no reinvention of the wheel but the wheel itself is a lowly 9/10
Being 'shy' about throwing 9's at every game with expectations isn't necessarily a bad thing.
