The Pope Would Like You To Be Yourself Online

Kotaku: Pope Benedict XVI warned against "excessive exposure to the virtual world" in a statement released by the Vatican today. And he advised people to avoid giving "in to the illusion of constructing an artificial public persona for oneself."

The 83-year-old Pope didn't name his favorite social networks, but the head of the Catholic Church may as well have been talking about Facebook, MySpace or even Steam and Xbox Live while delivering a new address entitled "Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age."

Most people are @$$holes after all...

He's a bit hypocritical.

He talks about not having a pretend persona YET he has his own imaginary friend.

Comment of the day!

But, seriously, you have to give 'em credit. I mean if it wasn't for his imaginary friends, we would have never been exposed to quality fiction: the bible.

Guys don't be dicks. You can be atheists all you want but don't do the same think other religions have done that atheists have bashed them for.

NeoBasch3730d ago

What makes you think we're atheists? I'm an agnostic monotheist blend. And I follow most if not all Christian and Buddhist precepts, even Taoism to an extent. It's all done in good humor. It's nice to make fun of yourself once and awhile. That includes beliefs.

The great Lord Inglip says to be as disingenuous as possible on teh internets. HERETIC!

I thought the Pope was busy getting his own house in order. These kid young boy seem a lot safer cussing on the internet than going to Sunday School. I never though I would be in a position to feel comfortable saying that publicly. But keeping what has been going on in the Catholic Churches quit is about as sinful as it gets, and a disservice to its members and humanity as a whole.

I think we all know that's not going to be happening anytime soon..
