Sony and Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet 2 has entered the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart at No.1, but failed to outsell the week one total of the first game in the series.
95 copies less.....
95 copies????? And it's been out for less than a week!? OMG! LBP2 Bombed! /s
wow... that's a new low for these websites. 2011, we'll see even more. i can't even imagine how creative they are gonna be. EDIT: @thereapersson (below): yeah.. we've already seen some this month already (eg. LoT). the more PS3 games comes out the more desperate these sites gets. i'm sure KZ3 is gonna get around safe 9.0 score so that they can give Crysis 9.5~10.
Next up: Bashing a game for failing to live up to sales expectations before it is even released. Everyone who values what little integrity N4G still retains will utilize the report system, and act accordingly. @ Nix above Wasn't Lens of Truth exposed for trying to make the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 look bad by knowingly publishing an analysis of an old build of ME2? Didn't Digital Foundry's analysis completely refute LoT's analysis, causing LoT to instead crown the 360 version the "winner" simply because you can find the 360 version cheaper and because all three editors "already played through the 360 version"? One of the editors even crowned the 360 version the winner, not because of the PS3's technical competence, but because he preferred the 360 controller. lol...
And that's supposed to make the game worse? Not selling as good as the predecessor? Give me a f***ing break
@thereapersson: yup dude... they'll have to come up with more creative ideas to thumb down exclusive PS3 games. oh wait!!!! THEY'RE EXCLUSIVES!!!! CAN'T BE COMPARED!!! q; only if i could give you second 'Agree' for that edit comment. he he..
So what, who gives a fuck about sales other than 360 fanboys (thats all they have left). LBP2 is just another AAA exclusive added to my game collection, regardless of how much it sold.
... many European fans of the first game decided to import the USA CE instead!? I know I did.
I know, maybe I'll go out today and buy 100 copies. That way tommorows headline will be: "LITTLEBIGPLANET 2 HUGE SUCCESS!!!: OUTSELLS PART 1 BY 5 COPIES!!!!!!" Hmmm, maybe I should start up my own gaming website...
Lmfao @ 95 copies. There's not much more I can say. I don't know where people come up with the idea to make a news article about that. That's within a margin of error.. and even if it's a rock solid figure, that's still like what 5-10 minutes worth of sales?
but but the hits
Ps3 is doomed. PS3 gamers don't buy games, they just troll n4g. /s Incredibly lame, flamebait-y article.
yep teh fails
I lol'd when I read "95", OMG NOOOOO!
i don't see numbers....
Read the CVG article. They announced that it only sold 95 copies less. LBP2 is GOTY for me so far, going to be hard to top such a magnificent game.
/facepalm Has the game even been out a full 7 days? @ below Just as I thought, which further cements my decision to not give this website any hits.
@thereapersson no it has not been out a full week yet.... considering it came out two days later in the UK. Just another site trying to get hits.... Like always....
They stopped selling LBP2 already??
And here we go. We've seen this happen before, with the first LittleBigPlanet, with MGS4, with Uncharted and Uncharted 2. Whenever the PS3 seems to get an outstanding title that all the critics love, some game media just simply can't deal with it so they just find something else to focus on to convince people that something's wrong. When the game itself is outstanding, the next step is to attack the sales. "It didn't sell a million in seconds." "It didn't even beat the previous version." blah blah blah When LittleBigPlanet launched there was article after article trying to convince us that the game was a sales flop - even though the game sold over 4 million copies, a number literally unheard of for a platform game that doesn't start with "M" and end with "ario". No matter what games come out on the PS3 and how much people love them, there will always be these critical voices from within the gaming media. It's just sad. No one cares what LBP2 sold in the UK in week one in the UK. It doesn't matter, and it's certainly not worthy of a headline.
It also released in one of the slowest game selling months in the year...
Not only that but with DCUO a week prior and Mass Effect 2 with Dead Space 2 on it's way. If anything, this is a good indication, LBP2 stand strong against competitions.
good to see crap ops knocked down to second if only for a week by a game that warants adtention.
Lol 95 copies. I bet the error in their estimate is more than 95!
wait,i can't get to the website, but do they mean lp2 sold less in full time sales or first week sales?
They're comparing first week sales. Apparently LBP sold 95 copies more *GASP* in its first week.
LOL! 95? It's been out for a week. Give it a break.
and it ll still manage to sell 4 to 5 millions like first one.
Erm I think they should wait for a whole week. Anyway did'nt LBP2 release in the UK 2 days later?
"In the first week" - from release to sunday. If like me you're in the uk, that means Friday to sunday, unlike the original launch which was wednesday to sunday. On top of that, it hasn't even been a week since it launched in the US, on top of even that as well, lbp1 launched in the run up to Christmas, where as 2 has launched in late jan.
95 copies less? not bad considering its just been christmas.
Thats 95 people taht are still playing LBP1
I'm one of those 95, but don't worry...I will be getting it.
LBP2 is in the same position as every other game. And yes it means that it has sold less than LBP in its opening week. Read the charts people, use google to search for "chart track" and then bookmark it
well maybe those 95 people opted to buy me2 with this week/month wage before buying lbp2
My thoughts exactly. Mass Effect 2 and also Dead Space 2 a week later must have had an effect on LBP2 sales.
Right, I am buying DS2 tomorrow. ME2 and LBP2 will have to wait. I was hoping Best Buys' buy 2 get 1 free sale would last until tomorrow, then I would just get all three. :(
Like myself I purchased both titles, but I know not everyone has that option.
little big planet was released in wednesday which give it two extra days for first week. LBP2 was released in friday. also LBP was released in november when games sell better than in january
-_________- 95 units
but what an absolute bullshit article. This'll get a ton of hits now, just because of a difference of 95 sales. Pah. Sensationalist bullcrap of the highest order here.
So a couple million ps3's later and it sells LESS than the original? That cant be be a good. Even if it is 95 less, it should be more.
joined less than a month ago and you have 5 bubbles? that cant be right. even if it only 2 more bubbles that the average new user, with the way you troll it should be less!!!! See what I did there? trolls are blind so I am not surprised you didn't see it.
The game has only been out for six days in the US and only 4 days in the UK. How about we wait until it's actually out for a week before we start claiming poor first week sales.
OMG, Game over
LBP2 is creepy. LBP was cool with the themes and such, but this woman with the bakery is f'd up.
Not her, persay, but the levels.
Good job for it being number 1.
in italy (and some other european countries) the game isn't out yet because it was delayed to Jan 26! Why the hell stupid website always forgot the write REAL FACT? EDIT: Mhh but the news is related only to the UK.... CHANGE THE NEWS TITLE THEN!
is it me or are we still in 2006/2007?
95 copies?? Those copies probably sold since this article was posted.. It wasn't really on every billboard and commercial like kinect(overhyped for a piece of sh*t). Give it a break, let it get a chance to catch on.
Er, it's been available for not even an entire week yet and some people are already counting the sales? LOL Why do people never learn from past mistakes? The industry said that very same thing about LBP1, and it went on to sell 4,5 million copies or something. Those bloggers... *shrugs*
everyone report this flamebait article!
this web site will show just about anything
I think it will beat LBP1 in the long run though... easily :)
I agree. And, we need worldwide sales figures not just 1 country.
This is just pathetic, what a terrible website...
Classic N4G. I'm lucky if I click on 1 link a day on this site there is so much garbage and dross on here. Of the top 12 articles 4..yes 4 are opinion pieces which I have no time for, I'm here for News. 1 is Rumour and 3 are News articles. Based on the fact this is supposed to be News piece tells you the standard and quality of the journalism floating around in the N4G toilet these days.
Sorry web site did you say something? I was to busy playing LBP2.
from the article... "It's worth noting that LBP launched on a Wednesday, giving it two extra days at retail over the sequel, but the sequel's failure to achieve better sales has to go down as a disappointment." yeah....
So LBP had two more days worth of data.......and now they're complaining about how that doesn't matter.......block....immediat ely
I think thats good considering the somewhat awkward time of year they chose to release it (I still haven't recovered from xmas)
Of COURSE it sold 95 copies less than the first, I've yet to get my copy of the game! lol. Unfortunately, my budget is painfully tight due to being put on call at Konami, so I couldn't run out and buy LBP2 for me and my wife yet. It'll have to wait until some time next month, if not later, sadly. I'm really looking forward to it, as the game looks fantastic, and so much better than the original, which I loved to death.
95+ people pirated LBP2.
All this lets me know is that the 2nd installation is just as successful as the 1st. Anyone who buys this game is in for a treat. If you love games, don't miss out on this. It has something for everyone. Anyone who bought this from Amazon on preorder (like me) got it for $39.99 with the $20 Amazon credit. (An amazing steal)
I'm going to be really sad if the LittleBigPlanet series doesn't lift off. Honestly, MARIO, the same re-bagged game, can sell tens of millions off purely being Mario. LittleBigPlanet is Platforming being taken in the right direction. It's called Evolution. So help me god, if Mario still sells tens and tens of millions next generation, and games like LBP flop, that alone tells you where this industry is going. Or I guess I could say "that alone tells you where this industry is staying". PS. Sales off by less than a hundred copies doesn't mean anything.
