Five Overlooked Games You May Have Missed in 2010

Steve Haske writes, "God of War, Gran Turismo, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Mario Galaxy—2010 had a lot of really big titles, inevitably leaving some of the smaller games released overshadowed, swept under the rug or just forgotten about. Here's a look at a few worthwhile games you didn't play that you probably should."

Dude, all these games were awful.

Quagmire5255d ago

Yeah somewhat, although I hear from others that Alpha Protocol is somewhat good despite its many and obvious short-comings, might give it a try once it hits the garbage..I mean bargain bin.

chadley5255d ago

I've played Alpha Protocol... And no it is NOT alright!

FrankMcSpank5255d ago

This is basically a list of the worst games of 2010. These are not over looked at all.

A better list of good overlooked games is:
Singularity
DeathSpank
Castelvania LoS

chadley5255d ago

I liked Lords of Shadow. but besides that, yes it's the worst games. I thought the worst games of this year were Sonic The Hedgehog 4 and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

andron5255d ago

Nier and Alpha Protocol are worth a look for the right people. The others aren't...

gorebago5255d ago (Edited 5255d ago )

Worst list ever

If you want over-looked gems try good games like 3d dot heroes, sengoku basara, metro 2033 or darksiders. These are all terrible.

RememberThe3575255d ago

Shit, you should have written the article.

shoinan5255d ago

Nier was not awful at all. Great game, totally overlooked.

mastershredder5255d ago

Yeah, Nier is a gem that many will continue to overlook. Too bad for them.

It's not just skin-deep kids.
I'm not into RPGs or JRPGS mainly because of the hokey stories, the 15 year old protagonist, character styles that have been overused since "The Bouncer" or turn based gameplay (for RPGs). Nier takes all those bits and mashes them up into a Japanese action RPG that is geared for older audiences and pokes fun at itself all the while (plenty of WTF to be found here).

The story is also an amazing feat. Certainly a nice break from the typical western games that are being crapped out in abundance with far less substance.

Seems like Neir is getting a small cult following nowadays.

The soundtrack is truly an accomplishment, story is japanese crazy, and there are some interesting gameplay elements.

For 10-15 bucks its worth a shot if you want something off the beaten path.

Kon5255d ago

Lame games, do NOT buy.

Venoxn4g5255d ago

don't forget Vanquish and Enslaved!!! and I coul put here Bayonetta, man..Vanquish and Bayonetta are ones of the best in this gen.. :)

Video Games Proud To Not Be For Everyone

Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.

If you make something for everyone, you please no one.

mkis007133d ago

I mean I can do without nintendo games if given the choice. They are not nearly as mature rated as the average.

Yui_Suzumiya132d ago (Edited 132d ago )

Yeah but I use my Switch OLED primarily for anime booba style games (visual novels and JRPG's) and ultra violent FPS's. Far from kid friendly, lol

JohnBLZ132d ago

The problem with that line of though is that games have never been as much "for everyone" as in 2025.
The only thing that's not for everyone in gaming lately is the gatekeeping. Devs will try to appeal to as many people as they can, but if you dare have your own tastes and prefer something a bit more obscure, then you have "L takes" because at the moment, popular opinion equals right opinion.
So devs should simply own the fact they water down their games and go Hollywood to please everybody. Then indies will go back to being trendsetters that are different from AAAs, instead of being roguelike and gacha copycats.

Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.

No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne352d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

ZeekQuattro351d ago

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

TheColbertinator351d ago

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.
