IGN: Don't Pre-Order The First Templar

Here at IGN, they have the opportunity to play games that aren't out on store shelves yet. Writing about them enables them to inform you about upcoming games, and to give you an idea of which games you should think about buying when they finally hit retail outlets. When they popped in an early version of The First Templar, a game filled with shields, swords, and crusaders, they knew it wasn't finished, so they expected it to be imperfect. They didn't expect it to be a borderline disaster.

Big props to IGN for actually reporting on the status of the game. Too many previews are just hypejobs written by some hack who knows the game is bad but doesn't have the conviction to say so.

Alpha_Gamer4902d ago

Yeah, looks like it needs another year, minimum.

Looks like we found the REAL sequel to Two Worlds!

well previews shouldnt be about bashing the game when its not even out

it should be more positive comments and such, maybe concluding with like "with a bit more work this will shape up to be a great experience"

However, I believe that this game they previewed must have been so horrendously bad that they felt it would be a justice for them to caution people against it; by the looks up it, they were right

Previews should be about the truth period , but arent , unles it's for small and "no name" projects like this .

Had everyone been honest say about Assassin creed 1 ... and mentioned it's a pretty and good but repetitive game ... especially when the press actually had spent lots of time with it ...

The hype wouldnt have led to such a massive dissapointement for some , back then .

I agree that previews should focus on mostly positive things, since bashing an incomplete game is unfair to developers. But sometimes a game just isn't ready to release, and I'm glad IGN said something about it.

Bashing is a little harsh, but if a game is shit at its current stage why send it off to people to preview?

A pots a pot and a shit game is a shit game. Time to take the hype train out of service.

At first I was disappointed because I thought they were talking about The Cursed Crusade. For some reason I confused the title. The Cursed Crusade was the one I thought looked really cool. Actually never heard of The First Templar, but I'm disappointed to learn about it and hear that it is apparently not very good because I really like Tropico 3. But it's only published by Kalypso, not developed, so whatever.

Doesn't even registered as a ghost blimp on my radar.

I remember them showing a trailer along time ago ripping off Assassin's Creed and doing it horribly.

sobekflakmonkey4902d ago

thats funny cause to be honest, i dont remember hearing about this game at all prior to this, game looks fuckn horrible.

showtimefolks4902d ago

and isn't this either made or published by atlus so its a surprise that this game is looking bad. but i read about this in gameinformer and thought to myself its a 2012 game not coming this year.

be smart delay this game and give it another year or so to fix the issues and polish the game 2011 is already too jammed pack

Cenobia4901d ago

I thought it was in GameInformer too, but that was actually a different game.

That preview was on "The Cursed Crusade".

IMO there is no hope for the First Templar, but The Cursed Crusade could be good. I just hope more people don't get them mixed up.
