What a lousy ending. Fans pretty much hated the Arbiter in Halo 2... so let's have more Arbiter in Halo 3, hooray! The audio and video in the clip were pretty poor, so I had a hard time distinguishing some things. A very somber and boring finale, if you ask me. Hopefully some ridiculously huge boss fight preceded that cutscene. A bad ending isn't going to stop anyone from getting this game, though -- just look at Halo 2. It will be interesting to see how this is received, ratings-wise.

Oh, and I wonder if there's a scene after the credits, as well.

Well since when did Halo have a good story? When you play the campaign, the story has nothing to do with the levels you play. You run, you shoot, you finish. Next level. If someone says that MGS has a great story, did you even finish MGS2!? That game had the most nonsene ridden dialogue I've ever had to endure in a video game. (See attached videos)
The game totally rips you out of the storyline by reminding you that you are playing a video game.
The insane babble of your cohorts over your radio is nothing buy annoying jibberish.
They even go into details about being a "North american web worm in my former life".
MGS2 was a failure as far as story and dialogue go. It felt like Kojima and Konami decided there was no way to tie up all of the loose ends and story pieces, so they just let it all fall apart.

*Going to be way offtopic here, so if you want to read about halo and not MGS skip this comment*

This part has everything to do with the story. if those codec conversations took you out of the story, then chances are you got lost somewhere else in the plot.

You see the whole raiden section is a simulation, S3, or solid snake simulation. So that they can try and replicate big boss through training instead of genetics (didnt work out perfect for solid/liquid). So raiden IS playing a game, and when the colonel starts telling him to put down the game and go do something, its still in the context of the story, he is not telling YOU(the player) to stop playing.

The part from your video is probably one of my favorite MGS sequences. You get so many freeky and random radio messages (which ties into the story because the AI that is controlling the colonel, which has only been an artificial program in the simulation, is going haywire)

That part of MGS is a mindfuk, but it all goes WITH the story. The problem is that the story in MGS2 is so cryptic that many people have a hard time following it (apparently it is also poorly translated near the end, which makes is even harder to follow).

Point is: that part is designed to break down the fourth wall, to trip you out, and make you think. Make you question reality. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and this part was one of my highlights of any MGS. I respect your opinion if you didnt like it, but it sounds to me like you werent paying close enough attention to the story for the end to click together.

@7.3 MGS2 is considered by many to be the worst game because at the time everyone was so upset that you are playing as raiden instead of snake most of the game. MGS2 is infact a great game, but the story is notoriously convoluted.

Snape killed Dumbledore because he gave into temptation and put on one of Volermorts Horcruxes which was disguised as a ring. Snape managed to contain most of it in Dumbledore's hand, but ultimately it would consume him, so Dumbledore told Snape that he must kill him.

I think this is authentic. We all know there are a number of illegally sold copies floating around out there, like in Norway. Well, The Sony equivalent to The Arbiter would probably lay somewhere close to Raiden. Personally, I don't dislike the character, but to put an end to MC in such anticlimatic way is lame. I have a feeling the the story is going to be lame, as well. Surely, though, most people play this game for the multiplayer, but the story, to me at least, is very important. Seemingly lame. Ultimately, though, I doubt MS would kill off MC. That would be like Nintendo killing off Mario-LOL. MC wants to juice this series for as long as they can, and to do that they need MC. I have a feeling that this game is going to get an average score on the gamesites of 8.0. Nothing more. I guess letdowns like this hurt so much more when a game gets to overhyped. Bungie can't make an ending good if thier lives depended on it, why didn't they just enlist one of the author's from the books (which blows away the story from the game?).

Yes I respect it because it is a good game ask anyone has played the game, even devs have said they respect it. Yes I do like the campaign for HALO(at first that is the only reason why I played the game). And the reason why I am interested in the multi player is because my girlfriend little brother plays HALO 2 online all the time and I'm going to play it with him so we have something to do together so we can boned(that's the only game he really plays much so it makes sense for me to play HALO with him).

I just started playing HALO around December a month after I bought my 360, I never own a XBOX so this is my first time. So if you think I'm some XBOX or 360 fanboy think again never was never will be. I own both the PS3 and 360, and I don't care to take any sides. Hell I will defend both and will tell the truth about both companies if need be. Both companies need to get their sh1t str8 and that's the truth. i watched the video, i don't like Halo (or at the least, i don't see what the fuss is about), but i didn't think the ending was terrible. personally, i thought the ending to part two was worse (just because i don't like Halo, doesn't mean i didn't *TRY and like it before, i've played both games. beat the first one, watched my two roommates beat the second).

i mean, it seems like this generation is the one where some of our most beloved characters bite the bullet (ie, Snake and Master Chief for starters). who's next? Mario? Zelda? it's like the last Harry Potter book; practically *EVERYONE bites it in that one. it was like a bloodbath. okay, so i'm exaggerating a bit, but man, Rowling was on a killing spree in that book...

I finally lost my restraint and read the whole story. well its not great to read, but it sounds like a lot of fun to be playing through it. Master Chief remains just as much as badass as before. I am not going to cancel my pre-order. As for the ending cop-out, I wasn't surprised. I just hope Bungie does something more creative next time. And btw single player is about a quarter of the entire experience.

Also I finished reading Mass Effect Revelation, and its got a great back story for a video game, I know much about Saren, Anderson and a lot of other things. That and after all those videos, I am super excited about what Bioware is cooking. So I guess personally singleplayer wise Mass Effect is greater than Halo 3.

ps. maybe part of the reason I am not disappointed like a few here(though quite a few of them are PS fanboys) is because I dont really care that much about hype(I do care about reviews).
