Review: LittleBigPlanet 2 -- Examiner

Play. Create. Share. That was the tagline for LittleBigPlanet when it released a couple years ago and at the time the concept Media Molecule was delivering was revolutionary for the home console scene. Never before had a game conveyed such an open and endless entertainment forum for gamers to create their own levels, mini-games, and this concept was a refreshing notion in an industry were genres are becoming trite. Due to the vast and seemingly endless flow of player created content, Media Molecule stated a sequel would never happen, but the unavoidable sequel came forth and Media Molecule has added new content and refined basics from the first game. The big question is, though, are the new inclusions enough to justify the development of this sequel?

"The big question is, though, are the new inclusions enough to justify the development of this sequel?"

Yes. This is an amazing game. Review is not a well written review. If you are going to give LBP2 a less than AAA score, actually prove to me why that is. The 'If you hated the first one, you'll hate this one' is not a con, nor a valid point. You can say that about anygame. Sad thing to idiot reviewers is that is this game is completely revamped and 100x the game LBP was.

I guess you missed the end of the review where they said it was a great game. Your quote of 'If you hated the first one, you'll hate this one' isn't even in the review. The only thing said is if you didn't like LBP that all the new stuff won't change your mind about LBP2.

LBP2!!!!!! Come to me nowww. Cant wait for Tuesday.

Seriously? 8.5 is a good review, just because you think it should have a perfect 10/10 or a 9+/10 doesn't mean everyone does. Sick of seeing these sort of comments on LBP reviews in particular tbh, the point of reviews is that each person / site gives their own opinion and verdict on the game, and even then 8.5 is a good score.

FrankMcSpank2834d ago (Edited 2834d ago )

I won't allow it this time. The standard can't change for every one. But in all honesty, a game like LBP should get a reason for it's score, whether it be good, or bad.

testerg352834d ago

Frank, but even if they give a reason they didn't like it you'd still shoot it down.

FrankMcSpank2833d ago

No I would except their opinion. Jim Sterling had a full list of opinions. They were mostly lies, but at least their was something to justify his bullsh9t review.

MarioWarfare2834d ago

Have you even read the review? He said it was a great game and 8.5 is a great score, Please stop complaining about every review that doesn't give it a perfect 10

"While the main adventure is a lot more fun than what was found in the first game, the sequel still possesses many of the issues of the original. The biggest of the bunch is the frail platforming"

This is NOT an issue. MM purposely made it like so because they believe it is a "signature" aspect of LBP. That's why they gave YOU the option to fix that when you create your own levels.

You see, this is why I hate it when people rub number scores like they mean something. Once you see the score that's favorable/unfavorable, you immediately select the defining quote "It is a great game overall/It's somewhat a better game than expected", etc etc. By that, you have overlooked the neglectful nature of the review to which MAIN purpose, is to give you the rundown of the game as much as possible.

Take a look at the following statement:

"Movements and basic jumps are too loose and will feel off until you adjust to them, but even then you’ll be prone to making errors due to the game’s physics. These two elements need tweaking if a third entry is to be developed."

See, it's ALREADY tweaked for those WHO WANTS TO CREATE THE LEVELS IN THEIR WAY. To which the game WAS DESIGNED to do in the first place!

"If you are going to give LBP2 a less than AAA score, actually prove to me why that is."

Really? Shouldn't it be the other way around? All games have to earn a AAA score, not receive it by default. That's the mindset of ps3 owners, it's a sony exclusive, it MUST be a 10/10!

Another excellent review.

GOTY Contender already, easily. This type of games for what it offers and the quality to create other games is amazing and only for 1 console.

Hmm, I never realized that LPB was similar to N4G.

Hop around, explore user-generated content and collect bubbles.
The party just never ends. =/

EDIT @below: Well, yea. You gotta get a bunch of buddies and help each other get bubbles.

ikkeweer2834d ago

Hmm, didn't know you could collect bubbles with multiple sackboys on LBP2 aswell.
