Call of Duty: I have seen better days. (Part 1)

From the Article: "I thought this appropriate after hearing the release numbers for the latest game in the series (Black Ops). Hearing that it had the biggest release day, beating Modern Warfare 2, and also had the most money spent on it for development, I expected…more."

What do you mean by crap?

The new CoDs are crap - in which case your right
The old CoDs are crap - in which case your completely wrong
This article is crap -in which case I say your wrong again. I wouldnt say that CoD has been going down slowly since CoD 2 like he said though. I would say it did a sharp dive after CoD 4.

I recently went back and played the first CoD(luckily I still had it) and it was sooooo much better than MW2 and BO. Why cant they just go back to what made the first ones great?

"I recently went back and played the first CoD(luckily I still had it) and it was sooooo much better than MW2 and BO" No man, it isn't. The Single Player evolved, the multiplayer is far better, i don't see how the first one is better than the new CoD.

Shackdaddy8362929d ago

Have you played the first CoD? The story in the new CoDs dont even make sense.

BattleAxe2929d ago (Edited 2929d ago )

Say what you will, but I thought CoD: WaW was an excellent game. Thats why I was so dissapointed with Treyach and this garbage game called Black Ops. Treyarch's pinnacle was WaW.

@ Shackdaddy,

CoD4 made sense, and so did WaW. The only part of MW2 that didn't make sense was how on earth the Russians managed to get their entire military over to the USA without Europe, Canada and Japan noticing anything. The picture that MW2 painted of the USA being on its knees was epic though.

Homefront looks to follow in MW2's shoes, but it looks like theres a far more detailed story as to how the N.Koreans manage to invade the USA. In homefront there is an EMP blast that shuts down the power grid to the USA, similar to MW2.

everyone should do themselves a favor and play battlefield games instead. i have a feeling more and more people will. i loved bc1 although alot of people didnt but bc2 is going really strong.

your right cod4 was great but since that all you hear is negative stuff about the series from the fans.

Call of Duty PC was a great experience and the game that separated the men from the boys during tournament play. The Sp put you in the war unlike any game ever made. Characters had depth and the experience was EPIC.

Call of Duty 2 PC refined COD1 and polished it to an even better experience while fixing complaints of gamers and cemented Infinity Ward as a major developer. Same high level of a SP experience coupled with an improved MP still based around CORE game play.

Call of Duty 3 was absent from the PC and thus started the transition to a console/arcade experience strictly handled by Treyarch. A solid title but it lack the polish and luster of the Infinity Ward titles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare saw the return of COD to the PC and with the domination of Battlefield 2 PC, COD entered the Modern Combat era and did so with the same quality as previous PC titles in the series. Slightly an arcade experience it did retain a perfect balance of CORE and Arcade gameplay. Top 10 FPS of all time.

Call of duty 4 World at War Treyarch second go round lost a lot of it's swagger as the SP mode was forcedly linear predictable and average. The multiplayer showed signs of life but never lived up to what Modern Combat had started and couldn't regain the touch of COD 1 and 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 big advertising budget for a total arcade/console experience that completely abandoned the COD roots. The PC version was a cut and paste 360 version w/ KB/M support. The game was completely broken and a Haxor's play ground. Infinity Ward took the cash and ran.

Call of Duty:Black Ops Treyarch's turn to cash in off the hype of COD MW2. Blops fixed some problems of MW2 but all in all it had a decent SP that lacks the depth of the original COD SP and continued the arcade friendly MP experience. Pretty bland overall as the series has destroyed what COD1 COD2 and COD:MW built.

Sledgehammer, Treyarch, or The retooled Infinity Ward need to bring Call of Duty back to it's roots one last time for just one more glory run as many COre gamers start to remove themselves from the Legacy that was Call of Duty for the consistent and always dedicated team DICE and the CORE Battlefield series. Either way Call of Duty has secured it Legacy amongst the gaming Gods as LEGENDARY.

call of duty needs to go sick of dude bros and there pretending to play a real game

Shackdaddy8362929d ago

It needs to be replaced by a game from a dev who cares still.

I just picked up a used copy of Call of Duty 2 yesterday for the Xbox 360 and even though it's a five-year-old game, I had WAY more playing it than I did playing WaW, MW2, and BO. I'm sure the CoD franchise will crash one day when the average gamer gets tired of it. Hopefully.

Shackdaddy8362929d ago

Even though I hate the franchise now, I still consider the old CoDs true classics.

Just saved everyone reading the article. I don't mean to be disheartening to the author - but it was a piece of crap. Served no purpose other than to make the author seem like some sort of 'eHero'. Call of Duty PC days are over - live with it or move on.

Drjft2929d ago

Also my favorite part of the whole article was how this guy discredited CoD3 even though it was Treyarchs first entry into the modern Call of Duty series - essentially proving that this 'anti-T3' hate is unfounded.

Also, inb4; "BIG RED ONE! RAH RAH RAH" as he didn't even talk about Big Red One.

electricshadow2929d ago

It's like I'm really on /b/.

Drjft2929d ago

Hah, yeah, that's where I got them ;)

Pic definitely related.
