Top 5 Trailers of This Generation

Loot Ninja writes:

"Who doesn’t love a high quality trailer? Getting hyped up for a game based on a killer video has a special place in all gamers’ hearts. In the course of this console generation, there have been some terrific trailers and those that just sucked ass. Who cares about the latter — we want to show you our top 5 trailers of this generation. We spent a good deal of time whittling down the list to those that we really loved — ones that we watched over and over both before a game’s release and after. What are you waiting for? Get watching"

The DC Universe online was pretty good too...

drunkpandas4843d ago

Agreed, however we considered that really a cinematic instead of a trailer (if that's the one you're referring to?)

Yi-Long4843d ago

... the trailer for the first Assassin's Creed was amazing (music: Lonely Soul)

Raendom4843d ago

Resistance 3 was my fave.

Charmers4843d ago

I can't believe they missed out the Mass Effect 2 launch trailer :-

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

That is one of the best launch trailers I have ever seen.

drunkpandas4843d ago

That was definitely on our list of "maybes", but didn't make the cut.

The Meerkat4843d ago

That trailer gives me goose bumps.

I even have the music from it as my alarm clock in the morning.

Workshyskiver4843d ago

Just thinking, Did MGS4 have any decent trailers? I remember how awesome MGS2's ones were but MGS4's ones I can't remember. Must go and do research.

drunkpandas4843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

We looked into MGS4 trailers, but most of them were more along the lines of demos and cutscenes. We tried to stay with traditional trailers. If we expanded it to demos and custscenes, the Raiden trailer from MGS4 where he fights Vamp would have definitely made the list.

Ducky4843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

The MGS4 cinematic (story) trailer was... cool.

Or well, I thought it was cool... I watched it again and it was so cheesy for some reason.
I don't know if there's anyone out there besides Kojima who can take a plot such as MGS (which is laughable on paper) and turn it into such a serious and well-directed way that you don't even notice the oddities.

No DeusEx or AssAssins Creed though? =(

EDIT: Here's the MGS4 one I was talking about. =/
Not as cool as the watermelon-ending trailer.

drunkpandas4843d ago

Deux Ex wasn't considered for being last gen (other than the new one, which, while good, wasn't a finalist for consideration).

Both AC and AC2 were considering, but ultimately didn't make the Top 5.

OllieBoy4843d ago

The recent Killzone 3 Story Trailer is one of the best I've ever seen.

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing692d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle2d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa2d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing12d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
