As you all may well know, Sony’s PlayStation 3 was hacked by a group known as Failoverflow. What’s immediately going to jump out to most people is the idea that it could (and likely will) cause piracy. But, however, is that the end of the story?
It's been officially over 2,500 days since The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed, and fans are still waiting for more than a logo and a mountain range.
It will come out in another 1000-2000 days or so. I’d rather they remake Morrowind. After they added quest arrows, sprint button, making stats lesser and the big nerfs to spells Elder Scrolls has been too simplified. They could change that with ES6 but I don’t have much faith in modern Bethesda. I would love to be wrong
Do not miss the Final Fantasy IX lottery commemorating its 25th anniversary and see the new merch release by Square Enix.
I’m hoping Xbox Showcase will be where the Remake gets announced… freaking all this stuff with FF9’s anniversary and still nothing on the Remake…

whoa a reasonable discussion at hand??
lets see how this compares to a blog that calls Hackers the "scum of the gaming industry"
i can see how pirating the PS3 in other regions where you can sell bootlegged copies of games, but in N.America and Europe as well as many other places, its too easy to find a torrent site and D/L a game....this hack hasnt gotten this far, but all you need is a knowledgeable developer or programmer to make it work and just release it on the net
these hackers condone piracy, but being open source leaves to abuse of the programming and thats when people take advantage of a system and its games...i still dont understand how cheating or hacking is fun unless you find trolling fun and pissing off gamers who dont care about their K/D ratio and just want to have fun
And that's just the thing -- Why should anyone really care about this hack here? If you're against it, don't do it. Buy your games like you would and shut the **** up. Buy those EA games at 60 bucks when you know they should be 9.99. That's your right to do so. If you don't want to hack your system, by all means don't do it. You have no right to tell me or anyone else what we should do with our hardware, though. And you're no better for being against it as I am for being for it.
Don't get all huffy and puffy about others who want this to go down for the right reasons. Those being the choice to open our Ps3's up and run apps that make sense to us. Apps that can change our Ps3's into a system "we" like, rather than a system Sony likes.
The Ps3 should've been open from day one. PC's are -- Why not the Ps3? I haven't seen too many PC's running the same software or themes -- Why? Because they allow us to stylize the units to our taste.
Sony should've done the same.
I want the choice to move my xmb icons around. To hide the ones I don't use. To take trophy support away. To install apps to the xmb that allows more codec for video playback -- MKV anyone?
This is my system, I bought one and another was bought for me, I want to do what I want to do with it. And none of what I want to do involves stealing games or downloading them. I don't care about the game side of this -- I care about the app side of it. If a game is good enough I'll buy it -- If it's not I won't not only not buy it, but I won't even give it a second look. Why would I want to steal it if it sucks? I wouldn't and nobody else would either.
People who are crying about this are conformist.
Hackers have a need to show their skills, the "how's" to how they accomplished said hack. They love posting and making declarations. What no one seems to understand is there are corporately paid "hackers" working on the security themselves, reading these "How To's" and following their methods (which were most likely planted by Sony) to close any holes. Look at the USB jailbreak...tons of hacks, all kinds of info on how to, all kinds of tutorials...and now they are useless. People can hold onto the "master" key all they want, it's not THE master, it's A master. Big difference.
EDIT: Bubbles back joeorc! I just had cookies, so I'm good! :)
This is the best way to describe the joke of these "homebrew enthusiast" (crackers).
"The group involved say they are vehemently anti-piracy, and have no intention whatsoever to pirate any games. However, they have let the cat out of the bag. If said group were so concerned about piracy, then they would not have allowed the code to go up into the public domain. Therefore, as a completely neutral observer, I find it difficult to believe such words."
What load of B.S they said.
I dont know why PS3 fanboys are crying so much. This will cause an increase in hardware sales and who knows the PS3 might finally get out of last place because of it
