DC Universe Online Beta Hands-On Preview (Examiner)

Paul writes, "Getting to spend some time with the DC Universe Online Beta, I can tell you that the graphics are very good. Everything from the world's environment to the characters' movement animations had no problem keeping up with the frame rate and look good. The draw distance is also well tuned to the massive scope of the game surprisingly, preventing "popped in" objects and textures."

This game has a lot of hype to live up to, honestly the monthly fee might prevent me from ever playing the full title but the Beta seems on point for a great game. If you like it enough to pay the fee, you will probably not be disappointed. Can't wait to see more console games take the leap into MMO and keep their Action game-play. After what happened to FFXIV maybe we will see more of them free 2 play.

My mayor gripe for entering this game is the 60$, i mean Sony is going to make money out of those 15$ a month make the entry fee a little cheaper.

My plan for this game is waiting for a price cut to at least 30$, the 30$ im saving are going to pay to the very least 2 monthly fees, after those 3 month ill decide if i stay in dc universe online or not.

That way to the very least i tried the mmo for 3 month for only 60$.

Imo its pretty good. Depending on what type or player you choose you can get attacked by other players an mission enemies or just mission enemies. Its froze a few times but thats to be expected with a beta. But all in all i think its pretty good.

Gameplay is simple but fun. You start with nothing much but have different ability and skill trees to level and more weapons to aquire from stores, random encounters, emails and prizes. It's a lot like the XMen Legends/Ultimate Alliance but open world and with 3D camera control.

Well, i never Get into MMO's, but will give this a go, maybe i'll end up enjoying it.

I was going to dig in to this beta cause it's so exciting. It beat FFXIV getting to the PS3 and HD console MMOs are practically non existent. But that huge 14 GB download crushed all my hopes and dreams and then peed on them. D:

Isn't that a bit dramatic? What was really the issue? Your internet connection or your HDD space? That 14GB download only took me a couple of hours, and it doesn't cost much to put a large HDD in your PS3.

I left my PS3 on for 20 hours to get the beta and then there was a 3 GB patch to DL a week after, I also dl'ed about 20GB for the PC beta as well all on a 2mbps connection and yet I did not see it as a big problem just part of what you need to do. I thoroughly enjoyed the beta and will be jumping into the full game at launch.

I would probably play this game just to see the superhero characters...

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
