Yup got so bored of the same old COD formula that only one week after I got it, I traded in my Black Ops copy to get Fallout New Vegas.

Funny, but the majority still buy into this tired formula. The Blacks Community on XBox 360 is 14 million unique users, there is usually 800,000 unique users in the multiplayer playlists during peaks periods and 300,000 during off peak periods. The fact is, the game is still widely popular and for as many gamers tired of the Call of Duty formula, there a hundreds of new gamers to the community. With another Call of Duty expected to be released in November, the community will grow again.

Is it that simple, though? I would never have bought Blops this past year if the missus hadn't conned me into it as a present. Thing is, she usually LOVES COD and even she's run out of patience this time round so I dunno if you can even say it's as simple as "like it or not".

Seriously, where the MP concerned it's the fourth year running with almost thew exact same game. They change the balance, add new maps and mess about with killstreaks, perks, have different skins and guns but the core gameplay remains untouched and as a result it just feels more diluted with each passing year. As for the SP? It seems as if they compete for the least likely option and outlandish twist every other minute-it's poor, really poor.

It leaves you with the feeling,. as well, that if they want us to play virtually the same game every year they could AT LEAST get it to sodding well work and put it on dedicated servers for us all to ensure it might. But they don't and each year we get bored with it more quickly. There's a good game in there even now but the annual onslaught is leaving IT fatigued let alone all of us.

Fact is I still enjoy playing COD4 the most, even today, which has to say something, surely?

It's boring for more reasons than just a "Wow" factor. The guns are also boring, and sniping is so rare that there is no versatility with the gunplay. To me, pretty much all the guns felt the same. SMG's are suppose to be CQC yet they have the same accuracy at mid-long range as assault rifles.

It's horrible someone with an AK74U can out shoot a sniper in this game at very long range. The maps are another issue, they're just not very memorable other than a couple at best.

Same old killstreaks, the RC wasn't enough to refresh the killstreaks. I think they would of succeeded better with a "Future Warfare" game rather than going in the past yet again.

Last and certainly not least, the issues on all platforms (especially PS3) that plagued the online. While some did not or will refuse to admit, didn't have these problems, most of us did.

Mix that in with the choppy frame rate, it just isn't a fun game, to me anyways. While I wasn't much of a fan of MW2 either, it was more fun because it at least felt smooth and the guns felt different, and you could actually snipe making it a varied game.

COD4 will probably be the only one that I actually liked out of this series, and to think, everyone complained about juggernaught back then, WAW and greater there's so many more complaints.

I completely agree especially about the maps, COD4, COD:WAW and MW2 all had memorable brilliant maps whereas BO has none whatsoever. I just don't love any of the maps, I loved all of the maps in COD4 because they were all amazingly well designed and WAW and MW2 had one or two bad ones but the rest were really good.

I also think I have just bored of the game play, out of all the problems MW2 had I still found it very addictive. But after playing BO and getting to about level 29 online I have got bored and have not been on it for about a month.

i agree with what you say :) but i dont think its black ops thats 'boring'.. other than the major issues that p3 had(i play it on this platform)its a really good game..

but im bored of COD in general, not just black ops.. i cant play mw2 without turning it off 10 minutes later i play cod and after an hour or 2 i start thinking of something else to play..

im keeping an eye out for homefront..its the only fps coming out thats keeping the fast paced multiplayer that i first loved about COD xD..

In my opinion I think they try to balance the game so much and "The Wow Factor" just gone.

The author thought Spec Ops was a let-down? I loved it. It could be very challenging on Veteran and each mission felt unique. I remember some very frantic missions, such as the one where the players must defuse bombs around a slum. Good times. I got the Platinum Trophy, too.

I actualy been playing BO on xbox and it's not that bad, for some reason my experience on the PS3 version was terrible I hated it on the PS3 it had so many problems that I just ended up selling it. I have to say though it's missing the addictiveness of COD4 and MW2 gameplay, it just doesn't feel as badass as the first Modern Warfare's. Bo is like a strip down version of MW without all the bells and whistles and badassness of the first two.
