On Epic Mickey's Epic... Success?

Gamasutra's Jeffrey Matulef explores the ways in which Warren Spector and Junction Point's Disney Epic Mickey succeeds at generating interest in Disney and Mickey Mouse's rich heritage.

While Disney Epic Mickey certainly has its share of failures, it's not all bad news. One of game creator Warren Spector's primary goals with the game is to honor Walt Disney's legacy and make Mickey Mouse culturally relevant again. In this sense, Epic Mickey is a triumph.

The general consensus among reviewers is that you have to be a huge Disney fan to overlook Epic Mickey's flaws. This doesn't take into account that just because you go into the game not a Disney fan, doesn't mean you won't end up one by the time the end credits roll.

The game is selling extremely well. Its near or surpassed 1 million units sold. I think that gives hope for a sequel. I know theres a PS3 version coming out so its good to see the game be brought over to different platforms so other users can play it.

Ps3 version? LOL Nothing has even been announced for that at all. Nice try though. Game is on Wii and will most likely stay on Wii. This game isnt a shooter so of course it wouldnt sale on PS3.

There was an article on N4G saying Epic Mickey was coming to PS3. I didn't see it was a rumor. But I guess it was speculation. But I know Warren Spector said that a PS3 port could happen. Especially with the Move which is very similar to a wii mote. I'm not trolling. I have the game on Wii. I'll get it on PS3 too if it ever comes out on the system.

Bioshock could be on Wii. Any game could be on any system if it is 3rd party but wait for official news don't just run with some random BS and act like it is fact.

There is always a PS3 owner in every one of these articles trying to down play the game by making false claims its coming to PS3. Not every game comes to PS3 and to assume otherwise is pointless.

I don't think it deserves the high sales. I respect Spector's passion but the game lacks polish and is simply stale. I tried to like the game but couldn't. I can't help but compare it Mario Galaxy and Banjo Tooie which it can't hold a candle to.

Spector should work on a side scroller platform. How about Duck Tales much like NES game?

I'm waiting for this to get down to the right price.

15.00 pounds or less and this game is mine.

Anything more is too much of a gamble for me.. Especially when the jury is still out on this game.

i'l be the judge of whether its good or bad
