No time for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 to support Kinect, nothing to hold

XMNR: When Electronic Arts announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters earlier today for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, the publisher confirmed support for the Playstation Move and Wii Remote Plus but support Kinect for Xbox 360 was not mentioned at all. Unsuprisingly, it's the lack of something for gamers to hold on to which is tripping up EA Sports supporting Kinect and a golf game.

would look retarded swinging with out holding an item

xAlmostPro3236d ago

would work like crap anyway, played a week of kinect and pretty much all games it had to offer part from kinectimals..

played a dart game and would barely leave my hand :L

saladthieves3235d ago

EA just bitchslapped Kinect right in the face in front of Microsoft... Looks like the catchphrase "No controller required" required a controller.

IcarusOne3235d ago

Right. Because holding a tiny glowing ball looks so much cooler.

Kyur4ThePain3235d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

That tiny glowing ball knows when I twist my wrist ever so slightly to play a fade or draw. That's something Kinect can not (and probably never will) do.

doG_beLIEfs3235d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

Let me explain it to you in the words of Scottie from Star Trek.....

Laddie, let me put it to you another weh, how do you suppose that Kinect thingy knows where your club is in relation to the ball? Since the bloody thing cannot detect wrist rotation, how would it know a draw or a slice? Finally in the bloody hell would the game detect how hard you are hitting the ball since again there is NO WAY for the kinect to know where your hands are in relation to the ball...hell, it cannot even detect your hands.

Kinect just can't dew it fanboy.....It doesn't have the power.

Thanks Scottie...that was well put.

For me, the thing I love most about the absolute precision and accuracy WITH 1to1 control. That means a gamer like me can practice and get better and better and no newbee will be able to waggle their way to victory like they can on the Kinect or Wii.

Bocce ball in Sports Champions is a PERFECT example of this...anyone can play...but only with a lot of practice can you put the perfect spin on the ball to knock another ball out of the way while putting yours closer, only with practice can you put the perfect backspin to lob the ball over the tires on the tire court...about four of us have gotten really, really good at it and we can now place the bocce within and inch or 2 of where we want it....there was NO WAY we could do that in the beginning and there is NO WAY a newbee can do it without practice.

IcarusOne3235d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

Dude, well played. Bubbles.

I'm not disputing that move is more accurate than Kinect. I was merely remarking on how silly it is to care about how we look while using any motion controller. There's no way to look dignified. It all looks retarded.

pswi603235d ago

"Right. Because holding a tiny glowing ball looks so much cooler."

Um, no, but holding the Move controller *will* allow ps3 users to play the game via motion controls.

I find it unbelievable that Kinect fanboys are now resorting to sarcastic'ish comments like what Icarus just said. Are you Fing serious? I suppose next you are going to say something like "it's better playing with the 360 controller anyways" or "b bu but teh Kenected salezorz!!!111one"

Having tried John Daly's Powerstroke Golf, playing a golf game with the Move controller is really cool. Unfortunately, THAT game sucked.

I'm sure Tiger Woods 12 will be much better. Not to mention to plethora of Move games already released and working that I haven't had the $$ to play yet.

but oh, TEH KENECT!!!!

Actually having just breif reflection.
depending on your stance to the camera. maybe thats the reason why. they cant do side angles.
as the camera maybe looking for the whole front body.

FragMnTagM3235d ago

Kinect tracks your side just fine. Sonic Free Riders tracks you while standing sideways.

ElementX3236d ago

Duh, isn't this old news? This was already brought up last year.

dexterganpot3236d ago

kinect fails, i got bored of mines from the 2nd day.

Simco8763236d ago

You can say the same about all motion controls.

Tiger Woods with nothing would be pointless, the weaknesses of Kinect come out. But in defensive of Microsoft, they can do alot with Kinect, I just want to see it

wu-stix3235d ago

I think you are right. All I ever hear about with regards to kinect is are new PC hacks. I don't ever hear about new games. There was R.U.S.E on PC using the kinect but I doubt that would make it over to the 360 since the kinect has to make use of 33% of the 360's processor. I just hope there are new games for the kinect because I know how much it sucks being an early adopter and getting burned.

Arup023235d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

As i said before, if you like core games why the hell you buy a Kinect? You will only waste money on a thing you wont use!

rob60213235d ago

They really should make a golf specific version of the move, as a golfer i find the thing too short, and too round; sure it tracks my swing accurately, but it doesn't feel right. I can imagine one with a golf grip, and top heavy weighting, that would be awesome.
