1998 was the year of the PC

Sure 1998 had games like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. But it was the PC that took all the awards that year. Who can forget the graphics cards, and games such as Half-Life, Starcraft, Grim Fandago, and Fallout 2. Innovative and imaginative games like these ensured the PC would dominate the next few years of gaming.

Oh stop with the HAlF-LIFE THIS AND THAT SERiously it's gettin old like hell.

toaster4861d ago

Give him a benefit of a doubt the guy might not have been born yet.

Every gamer should appreciate Half Life for what it was and still is, it pioneered FPS and changed the genre as we know it. FPS would be much much different today if Half Life didn't come along and shake the gaming world.

Can't be getting any older than Halo this or Uncharted that.

Half Life broke so much new ground in gaming history then Half Life 2 broke even more new ground. If your a gamer then you understand the celebration that is Half Life.

2004 was a good year too
Half Life 2
Far Cry
Unreal Tournament
World Of Warcraft
Doom 3
Rome Total War
Sid Meier's Pirates
Battlefield Vietnam

SLAYMANIO_ULTIMATE_14861d ago

I liked the second one but the first one was not good.

etownone4861d ago

2004 I was definitely a PC gamer and i agree ...2004 was the year of the PC.

Doom 3, Far Cry and half life 2 ... all epic games!!!

CrIpPeN4861d ago

I played Half-Life source and got stuck I don't know where to go, lol.

Persistantthug4861d ago

Goldeneye came out a whole year ahead of it.

Goldeneye had a plot-story, and did pretty almost everything Half Life did.

I liked this article. It makes me think I should get a gaming laptop and start buying games from Steam.

A gaming laptop? Really? If you need to be mobile so badly, you should just get a handheld.
The idea of gaming on a freaking laptop at home makes me shiver.

Good times... I remember when the first rainbow six game was released and many PC magazines were saying that the game graphics were close to real life... How things changed.

Newtype4861d ago (Edited 4861d ago )

FAIL.

I played more Warcraft III than anything else, when I wasn't playing Socom II I was playing Warcraft III, Half-Life 2, and CS: Source

spdarksky4861d ago

Sadly i never finished Warcraft 3. I finished Warcraft 1 and 2 but never finish 3. Not even started Frozen Throne. I bought it but never played. Damn curse you First Person Shooters. Oh and Pro Evolution Soccer. :P

TheStorm4861d ago (Edited 4861d ago )

Yea 98 all around was a great year for gaming. Some PC games I would also agree with

Unreal
Half-Life (still one of the best games ever up there with the original MGS for me)
Grim Fandango (great Adventure too bad they don't make games like this anymore Manny was the man....or skeleton)
Heretic II (underrated great 3rd person game by Raven)
StarCraft (one of my all time favs with Half-Life played it forever)
Rainbow Six (Lead to games like CS and so forth)
Thief: The Dark Project (one of the best games ever)
Baldur's Gate (one of the best RPG's ever)

98 was truly a great year, good times. I remember I was broke that year. Because I constantly was buying new games.

Booyah4861d ago

LOL good... at least I know I didn't play Grim Fandango alone.

=p

Now is the Best Time to Get This Incredible RPG Bundle on Steam

If you are looking for an awesome RPG, look no further. Steam is offering a significant discount on its Fallout Franchise Bundle.

SimpleSlave1d 18h ago

"You can get all Fallout games in a bundle at a significant 20% discount on Steam. Individually, all these games add up to $244.91. With the discount, you can get them all for $195.91. That is $49 less than the original price. Quite a significant discount for such a popular franchise."

😊 😂 🤣 😐 - But why?

Just wait for a sale and get most if not all of it for a fraction of that price.

20% off...lol

Tacoboto1d 18h ago

The games were just on a real sale over the last week or two for the show promotion. Fallout 4 was $10, 3 was $5, NV was cheap as heck too.

So what the heck is this

Inverno1d 17h ago

The original games have been given out for free by Amazon for GOG and Epic, 76 is free now on Amazon if you have prime, Epic has also given out new Vegas for free and 4 has gone down to pretty cheap prices. 194 bucks is a total ripoff when you can get these games individually for less. Don't forget cd keys might sell em for a dollar less at times too. Come on man, us cheapskates won't touch anything near or above 100 lolz

isarai1d 17h ago

Bro that's a ridiculous ripoff are you kidding me? 🤣

Kinda cool I guess. Seems they just allowed the camera to zoom in right on top of the characters head and then able to control movement like a fps. Makes me wonder what the game would be like if I didn't ever zoom way out and scroll over the environment to check out for enemies nearby almost constantly.
