Praise From A Skeptic: Why We Love Kinect

GeekMom: We weren’t supposed to get an Xbox Kinect for Christmas. We specifically said we didn’t want one. And yet it turned out to be one of the most popular, most used gifts we’ve received in years. Go figure.

There was a lady in the comment section of that article that seemed very pissed off that this lady said Kinect won her and the kids over. Sounds like one of the guy from N4G pretending to be female. Very funny!

yeah because theres no way that someone would not like kinect right?/s

we talkin' about Karen? "she" wasn't the only one who had a problem with it...and you can see that one makes a comparison to the Wii and the likeness of the avatars...one thing MS did right imo, but they questioned if Kinect was better...so that could be a problem

plus, isnt this a blog? is it supposed to be approved

I got Kinect as a present for Christmas.....and it was AWESOME for what it is!! A 100% replacement for a control it is not; but for something fun to do with groups of friends it can't be beat!!!
I can not tell you how much fun everyone was having as we competed against each other while drinking and eating that day. Since then, we've set up Kinect party days and it's been just as fun. And now some of those friends have gone out and bought a Kinect as well.

But like I said, it's not gonna replace my regular gaming experience. When alone I'm still firing up my PS3 and playing some Medal of Honor and Dead Rising 2.

Dont get me wrong mate, i can understand that for what it does, more or less works, but its just not what im looking for in gameing at the moment, if my kids asked for one i would definatly buy it and play it with them but the son got a ps3 for his birthday and hes asking for move for christmas, so unless he plays one at his friends or something he propbably wont want one.

King_of_the_Casuals, I agree with you and that's what people don't seem to understand. If you're a core gamer, Kinect isn't meant to replace the controller. Its a fun alternative. Kinect was a hit at our New Years party.

Karen seemed very angry and does remind of the people here on N4G. That's not normal dissatisfaction that is vengeful festering animosity.

IQUITN4G3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

Yup that's likely

edit: just read that comment and yeah it surely is some disgruntled laddo- either that or an incredibly butch sounding lass.Just a little transparent then

i admit that kinect is good .... in pc , the hacks looks good but the games sucks , no matter what they do to the gameplay in the game it will be sucks , kinect isn't for gaming , it's a bad idea ....

I think motion controls are over-rated. Most of the time I play video games I just want to sit down and relax. But I guess it's good for children that need a lot of physical activity. And no, I'm not a lazy bastard; I workout 3 times a week. But when I play video games I just need to relax.
