GTA 4 runs like crap on anything less than 4 cores.
Since this game is newer, it only makes sense for it to require a minimum of 6 cores.

No, GTA 4 runs like crap even on 4 cores. Unless someone has a higher end intel i5 or i7 will they be able to get max sliders and max frame rates.

Sadly, my AMD 965BE cant handle it as good as I thought. Stinkin 60fps only when I have the sliders down to around 30. My GTX580 is not even necessary for this game. Even then, the game isn't optimized and hardly 60-70% cpu usage overall. If it actually was optimized and used my cpu 100% of the time, then I would understand that my CPU would be a bottleneck, but it isn't.

Bully and GTA IV are two of the worst PC ports I've played to date. I'm not very optimistic about this being any better.

Yeah, I have this on my PS3, but still got excited for a few seconds about a pc version. Then I remembered gta IV, which after 10 min of play wish I could delete from my steam account.

damn I hated the game on consoles and I was going to give it another chance later and play it again, but looks like I will wait a little longer and see if ther is a pc version

One of the best games of last year and I still can't play it on my PC :/ suckss. There is hope, however the storie's been spoiled for me by now and there's not much hype left for it. Just like what happened with GTA4... Always getting the best things last, if at all :(

Hmm, that's wierd. Since the 1.0.4 -> 1.0.7 patches I've been getting decent performance out of GTA4.

It was horrible at first, but the patches seem to have improved it for me.

I'm using the steam version and Patch 7. Games works fine.
Then again, with tech, sometimes you end up getting lucky. =/

True, it was impossible for me to run GTA IV in my PC. I had to change the Catalyst options but the result was the graphics worst than the console versions. GTA IV is a problem on PC.

My version runs well. I mean I'd expect it to run better but it stays above 40fps on my G73JH with all settings on very high aside from detail and view distance which are about 3/4 of the way

Basically minus every GOTY nominee from major gaming sites bar Mass Effect 2. No, no it didn't have the best lineup last year. I've plowed a lot of money into my PC hardware and I can unfortunately confidently say it didn't, as with every year for the past ~5 years

starcraft 2, civ 5, amnesia, arma 2 operation arrowhead, stalker call of pripyat, cataclysm, dawn of war 2 chaos rising, not to mention games like fallout new vegas, mafia 2, bad company 2, metro 2033, and mass effect 2 just dont compare on consoles. Just forget about the hype and websites like ign and gamespot.

Oh god don't set Rockstar a challenge like that, they may just meet it and surpass it.

Either way I am not that bothered about RDR on the PC, if I wanted to play it I would've bought a console to play it on a year ago.

If this is true the best PC gamers can hope for is a quick $200,005 port with 5 bucks spent on the port and $200,000 spent on the DRM. It will probably have the god awful GFWL which killed MP gaming in GTA 4. In reality I see absolutely nothing appealing about a Rockstar game coming to the PC.

I skipped the console version with high hopes for a pc version. Let's hope it makes it! Worse case scenario I should be able to pick up the console version later on for cheap.

RDR has a far better optimised engine when compared to GTA4. It should run on PC very nicely.
