TouchGen - Bulba The Cat Review

TouchGen - A jumping cat looking for some sushi; is there more explaining to do? Not really. Is it more complicated? Indeed.

The idea of the game is to use a cat in order to grab X amount of sushi rolls to finish the map. The cat though, is always jumping and between you and the sushi rolls, there is water and a lot of obstacles. All the player has to really do is tilt the iPhone in any of the four directions (front, back, left or right) in order to move the cat to wherever he desires. Of course, it isn’t that simple.

148apps - There’s a certain tongue in cheek charm to Bulba the Cat that’s immediately apparent. Even the description on the app store conveys a feeling that the developers don’t take themselves seriously. The storyline is described as ‘the most complex story ever written in human history (approximate evaluation)’ because clearly it is.

TMA: I like fun and I like silly, and as luck would have it Bulba The Cat has both of these in spades. It doesn’t really provide a very deep platforming experience, and there aren’t a wide variety of obstacles to face, but it makes great use of what it does have to provide some compelling levels.

Nine Over Ten 9/10 has put up a review of Bulba The Cat for the iPhone/iPod touch. The game is a 3D platformer with tilt controls that can be an acquired taste to players.
