Most Memorable Boss Battles of 2010

Matt Randisi writes "The sort of game that warrants the need for boss battles has evolved over the years. We’ve even seen iterations of this in games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, games that the concept of battles as a whole would not necessarily be required by any means. It seems as if the definition of the “boss battle” as it is generally understood nowadays is more like the most prominent obstacle that stands between gamer and continuing progress. Back in the day (i.e the PSOne era) boss battles seemed to have a deeper meaning, whether they be emotionally connected to the main character/storyline or guarding something extremely pivotal to the quest at hand. However, not all is lost in this current generation when it comes to what makes a really kick-ass boss battle. While it is still preferable to not be completely random and otherwise unimportant apart from moving on to the next stage, sometimes what makes a really cool fight is the way the fight is conducted. IMO if you are going to list a GOW3 boss battle Poseidon wouldn't be my first choice probably my least favourite. Cronos first comes to mind with the scale being ridiculous and for ending move Helios

Not only that' remember when cronos ate kratos and kratos cut throw him leaving his guts hanging out.It dose not get any better than that...And i have not even gone into the graphics and how detailed cronos was, remember when kratos took cronos nail off,and when kratos was on cronos head about to finish him off "his eyes were following kratos when he moved" Little details like that makes me smile :) ..And thats not even half of it..The list gose on and on and on and on and on e.t.c...It just goes on and on!!!!!!!!!.

Anyone who completed GOW3 would know Poseidon wasn't the close to the most epic boss battle.

That list should just have every boss from GOW3 and the last boss from ME2 and those would be the most memorable last bosses of 2010 for me.

Bayonetta boss battles were definitely awesome and deserve some love, Sapientia was one of my favorites. Poseidon was awesome too, but then again so were all the other GOW3 bosses.

Totally agree with you. Every boss in bayonetta was amazing. But so was every boss in GoW.

This was a good year in bosses. Normally they are forgotten.

That's exactly what pisses me off from FPS, which is my favorite genre. Not many try to make amazing boss battles. Glad that Killzone 3, Bulletstorm and, if Crysis 2 is anything like crysis 1, seem to fix that next year. And Portal 2. ;D

Oh no, I was on about the enemy on the steps in the first level, before the big door to the first boss... I'm not sure what it is? Zombie? A Skeleton-ish thing with Skin?

But yeah, I'd forgotten about those rolling skeletons. Every single one of those should be on this list.

Dregling is what i think there called,yeah there even more powerful on new game+ they can kill you in a few hits,you know the worst thing about demon souls is that i wish every rpg was like it!,i cant count the rpgs i have played and wished it had the same combat system.demons souls is what every rpg should be like i have never gone back to a rpg game as much as i have with demons souls its like that quote from the Godfather "Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in" no matter how many times i beat it the game always feels fresh to me.

I'm thinking of getting Dantes Inferno for the fact I thought the demo was cool and I kind of need a GoW fix since I've just completed GoWIII, seems like Dantes Inferno would be a good replacement for some quality epic hack and slash.

Dante's Inferno is a good action game. Since you've already played GOW3 I would say go for it.
