PSN!: S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 in early stages of development yet

GSC Game World confirms to PSN! that the lack of images, trailers or official information related to the highly anticipated sequel to STALKER is caused by the early stage of development of the game.

The team is still focusing the efforts in the completion on the new engine of the game.

I hope STALKER 2 will be hardcore shooter but i guess its already ruined it.

STONEY45283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

STALKER is not a hardcore game? No regenerating health, automatic ammo pickups, respawn checkpoints, and it's not hardcore?

STALKER is more hardcore than 80% of games out there, and probably 99% of console games.

-Superman-5283d ago

STALKER is hardcore, thats why i love this game.
What i am saying is that STALKER 2 will be casual shooter thanks to consoles :(

ATi_Elite5283d ago

I'm a huge Stalker fan, have all 3 games and have played all the mods and I have been following STALKER 2 very closely.

First off STALKER is one of the most HARDCORE FPS out. There is nothing arcade or casual about it. for example you can shoot a NPC in the arm or leg and then track him down by following the blood drops if he doesn't have bandages. Only Arma II is more HARDCORE.

Second GSC has said they will do the PC version separate from the console version because they do not want to disappoint their PC community and the cult following that STALKER has. Consoles has limitations and GSC has already acknowledged this and said the PC version will not be compromised in any way plus it will use more DX11 than call of Pripyat did.

Third STALKER is the best FPS/RPG game out, better than Fallout better than Borderlands. No one has played Rage so don't hype it up. Real STALKER fans know how great STALKER 2 is gonna be and consolers should be happy they are getting one hell of a game.

Xfanboy5284d ago

First crysis now Stalker 2?? bye bye open world welcome to the console yard!!

toaster5284d ago (Edited 5284d ago )

720p 30FPS in corridors FTFW!

@ Below

720p, no AA whatsoever, short draw distance, low res textures. Say what?

I hope RAGE is DX11. Tessellation, ADOF, all that good stuff. PC is where the future is at.

cemelc5284d ago (Edited 5284d ago )

Borderlands sends its regards. Rage also says hello from the future.

DaCajun5284d ago

@cemelc
I'm sorry but Borderlands was not truly an open world. There is one thing to have loading screens when going in caves or buildings but they had loading screens/portals between different areas/environments. It was not open world compared to Fallout or Elderscrolls but Borderlands was still one of my favorite games out there. I also think it was mentioned somewhere once that RAGE will be the same way being separated into multiple loading areas/environments like borderlands where you have to wait a short loading time for the next area but I could have heard wrong.

@Xfanboy
Same my above comment about Borderlands, the original Stalker is the same way there is loading areas between different areas of the maps that are about 15-30 secs long where you have to wait for the next area to open for you to continue.

cemelc5284d ago (Edited 5284d ago )

@toaster

Yeah cos borderlands was all about textures /s

PC is where the future is at.Wrong.

Perhaps pc has better specs than consoles. But the future is in the consoles, clear sign of that is S.T.A.L.K.E.R, the devs for one reason or another are making the game for them so...

@DaCajun

Yeah perhaps is not open world like Fallout. But im pretty sure is open enough to hold stalker.

MAJ0R5284d ago

lol the only reason devs move their pc games to consoles is because of the...? yeah u guessed it right $$$$$$$

Arnon5284d ago

You realize that the more a console progresses, the closer it becomes to just being a PC, right?

Pretty sure PC is where the future is.

cemelc5283d ago

@MAJ0R

Didnt you just make my point even more valid, they see that console market is more profitable so they move on to that?

@Arnon

If we go by specs then yes, consoles are like a PC, but that wasnt my point from the beginning. My point is that devs see that the main market is in the console department. That doesnt mean pc is doomed or anything it just the way the market is now.

To make my point even more clear, see crysis 2, Rockstar (Red Dead), S.T.A.L.K.E.R, the witcher 2.

toaster5283d ago

^^^

Sorry to burst your bubble but Wictcher 2 is a PC exclusive. And recently Rockstar are pathetic developers. GTAIV was shit on all systems, truly overrated and one of the worst games of the generation.

cemelc5283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

Dude youre right about the witcher my bad sry. Still the rest of the games apply.

GOTY Red Dead Redemption begs to differ from your comment about rockstar. If you havent played, please try it cos its a great game.

Honestly though, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was never really a full open world game. That said, I really hope they don't have to make any compromises to make this multiplatform because I LOVE the series.

Pandamobile5284d ago

It wasn't open world, but the levels were massive.

Bolts5283d ago

It's open world in a sense that npcs have routines, go on patrols and fight with other factions. Most NPCs in this game isn't standing around waiting for you come and shoot them like CoD. They're actually doing something in the game world.

dkgshiz5284d ago (Edited 5284d ago )

How would they not be able to have an open world game just because its on a console? GTA 4 is an open world game. Just Cause 2 is an open world game, Fallout 3 is an open world game, Oblivion is an open world game. Red Dead Redemption is an open world game. All of these games run on the PS3/360. Not very hard. You people must not have much faith in GSC. Must be a shit developer if they cant run a game like STALKER on the consoles. Its not even like its a graphical master piece that requires god like pc computing power. JESUS! http://upload.wikimedia.org... this is impossible to run on consoles! Its just too much! Well, I'm sure the 2nd game will be using a much better engine. I'm sure it wont be ground breaking though. Plus this game just has giant levels.

dead_eye5283d ago

SSSSHHHHHHUUUUUSSSHHH dkgshiz. We'll have no logic here boy.

STONEY45283d ago (Edited 5283d ago )

Yeah, this game totally looks like garbage... even when it's not at DX11.

And the first two were posted by someone with old dual 8800GTXs. Also, that lightning in the 4th pic is really causing a real-time lighting effect.

Apotheosize5284d ago (Edited 5284d ago )

I cant wait, SoC was an amazing game. I think Stalker 2 could be a great game on consoles without the need to dumb it down, I think GSC can accomplish this. The core mechanics and atmosphere is what made Stalker unique. I hope they dont feel the need to change that formula

dkgshiz5284d ago

When you can get games like UC3 and KZ3 or even Rage to run on consoles. I'm sure you can get this game to run just fine on all platforms.

imvix5284d ago

UC3, KZ3 are very linear and are corridor shooters.

Ninjamonkey825284d ago

Sad day didn't release console was getting STALKER aswell :/ Why push a game onto something that draws the development of a game backways i never get the logic in that.

Yeah they will make a shit load of cash (Well if Metro 2033 is anything to go by maybe not) But if they would set out and make these games directly for PC before thinking of other things then surely it would be better for the gaming industry on the full.

It has been done before. Spin offs of PC fanchises have always made console and they anit cheap because they try there own things much of the time. But this way its either the pc takes the knock on effect having to play second fiddle t0o the inferior system are on the other side of the card its the console p[laying catch up and making ports like doom 3..

rumplstilts5284d ago

I own the first and 3rd stalker games but haven't played them much yet. I get side tracked too easily :/

'In related news, it was recently reported that the launch concurrent player count stats for MachineGames’ latest title, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, were below its previous games. According to Steam charts, the action-adventure game reached an all-time concurrent player count of 8,148 players on the platform.'.

DodoDojo173d ago

By previous games you mean the Wolfenstein games right? Those games have been on PS5,PS4,Xbox One,Xbox Series,Switch and PC, while Indy is only on Xbox Series and PC currently so that not surprising.

Knushwood Butt173d ago

This data is specific to Steam.

I've spent ages waiting for a full deathmatch lobby :(

Tacoboto172d ago

It peaked at 12,138, article is based on old numbers.

Beat out The New Order by just about 200 and is their biggest Steam launch.

Hey; I'm all for these guys getting that cash coming in, but Netflix is really, really hit or miss with their adaptations. Leaning a lot on miss.

Tacoboto177d ago

"Talks 'Underway with Netflix'"

Yay!

"... a live-action adaptation"

Nevermind

got_dam177d ago

I... could...be interesting. I mean, on the surface, you just need a bunch of people in dirty tacti-cool gear shooting each other and mutants and collecting mundane objects with extraordinary powers. Maybe an anthology series that shows different stories in the zone and avoiding following any of the game stories... but Netflix, so they will probably botch it.

CrimsonWing69176d ago

Hollywood gonna run game movies and shows into the ground like they did with Comic Book stuff.
