Magazine unveils new PSP2 pictures?

A magazine called PSM3 has an article related to PSP2 with supporting images of the portable gaming device. The image of the PSP2 looks like the leaked devkit images that were published by VG247 but the picture quality seems pretty sharp, neat and seems to have details as well.

Could this be real? Could this be fake? Only time will tell but till then, it's best to take this news with a grain of salt.

Bad desing on the buttons by the screen. It needs to be flat not sticking out and terrible positioning of the sticks. Oh well, whoever made the pic is good though.

It does look nice. But i have doubts on how usefull the track pad will be since you cant exactly see where your fingers are on the screen. I rather wait for official specs from sony. I am sure that it will be more powerful than the 3DS what i dont know is how much more. If they can replicate 360 graphics on the go that would be great

I don't even think the article is real. If it is, they have a number of typos that were missed by the editor. Plus, this would have to be the best mag scan EVER (of course, I'm not sure if it's a digital copy, since I couldn't find a digital copy available on the mag's site). Or, if this is a leaked PDF, who is the source?

Second, I don't think the design is even real because the placement of the analog sticks don't seem natural.

It's obviously a render, but it doesn't look sleek enough to be a Sony design. The analog placements look like they will be actually quite comfortable there though, even though it looks a little strange.

IDK, according to the page its a render dev kit. I like how it looks, i'm not really sure what i am expecting to how the PSP2 to even look anyway. Just as long as it's powerful.

The Playstation phone, or whatever they are going to call it will likely be announced at the Mobile World Congress in February. It's possible, though unlikely, that the PSP2 could also be announced then. But E3 is the most likely time for that announcement.

definately needs to be cloud based only. I know we all like our hard copies but in order for it to be a truly portable system it doesn't need to be held back by having to carrying disks or memory sticks wherever you take it. Without a disk drive, hdd, or a memory stick slot it should drop the price considerably as well. come to think of it... this could be what playstation cloud was patented for. As long as they put the entire psp library on it.

Looks just like the blurry dev kit shots. If true, it looks more sturdy than the PSP.

The way the buttons and analog sticks are dug in would add validity to the rumors heard from IGN about them being somewhat "concaved".

Whatever. My rumor-squashing abilities were done after truly believing that the old "leaked PS3 Slim" footage from a store in Indonesia was 100% fake. I was shocked to find out that a small store in a foreign country actually got a hold of the Slim 4-5 months before it was even announced.

like the features, don't like where the buttons are placed.(it almost looks like someone holding a dualshock upside down, thats not comfortable at all)

i mean it would make more sense the other way around or atleast one of the nubs in one area moved. like if the left stick and d-pad switched places that would make more sense. And if the right stick and the face buttons switched places as well, that would also just about do it for me.

It just looks uncomfortable i don't know.(speaking of the button placement)

As far as this design goes, i don't like it to be honest. But it looks like it can be a very comfortable device to hold in your hand which is always a plus.

Personally i would prefer something that looked sleek and sexy as hell like a smartphone look, but with these features of course. Something a bit more square-ish if thats even a word, you know like an iphone 4 if you will. Only a little bigger ofcourse and with the slide aspect of this design well for obvious reasons.

Overall i truly believe the next psp will be a beast of its own. Heck from all the talk of how powerful this thing is i wouldn't be surprised if you saw a near perfect port of games like resident evil 4, ninja gaiden and such on the handheld.

Depending on how big the unit is, switching the placement of the sticks with the buttons and D-Pad would be kinda uncomfortable, especially for longer gaming sessions

The shots of the new device isn't the PSP2. This section of the magazine is simply a supposition of what the PSP2 and PSP Phone can be and how the two products can fit in the realm of other smartphones and handheld gaming devices. The description also notes that the pictures shown are most likely out of date because a new PSP2 development kit was released which kept the original PSP design rather than the PSPgo one due to overheating issues. An interesting read nonetheless.

Most likely ruled out completely, but I think the idea of having games come in Memory Sticks is absolutely brilliant!

Maybe there would be some way of being able to read legitimate game saves from Memory sticks so that you can transport UMD games over to the PSP2 by Mem Sticks, you know?

I think it would be much easier carrying a pile of memory sticks around instead of UMDs. The PSP2 can keeps it's small PSP-Go-esk form factor and games can still come to retail. Everyone wins!

Thats what I mean, uncomfortable just to even imagine myself playing with this thing.

The psphone on the other hand has it right, the only thing with the current psphone model is the touch pad sticks? They are just flat and all I can picture is someone doing circles in a 2D enviroment. I believe that in order for that work out fine in a 3D space they would have to somehow make them green dots pop out like two little lumps for that 3D feel, both physically and in game, but ofcourse not too big of a lump that the phone couldnt slide open either.

With the psp2 I would simply switch the button layout and find a way to shave that deep feel it displays near the stick area for that whole analog feel.
But really though they should find a way to do this without a deep feel, man imagine playing a fighting game with that feel, specially something like say street fighter? good luck with not getting your thumbs caught in the middle of a fireball bout. Because we all know how does go..

The render is based on the leaked pics(PSM3 did indeed commission it)but apparently that was a n early design given to devs.
Now it is a single piece like the first PSP because it was over heating and this change apparently helps that problem.The screen is larger than PSP by nearly in inch,is the rumour and HD.

What I don't understand is that by switching to a PSP1000 form factor, they wouldn't have a lot of space for buttons with a 5.3in screen, unless the PSP2 is really big. So I think that the PSP2 screen was supposed to be 5.3in in the PSPgo form factor, but now since it looks like the PSP1000, the screen size has also changed.
