I was thinking that, too, but I played it on PC and the last time I re-played a game (Dragon's Age: Origins) on a console after playing it on PC I barfed at the graphics and chugging.

I may try it again on ps3,..because it has all the dlc,.. but played about 8 hours on PC,.. and I really did not get into it that much,..

and game has some serious problems,..
all the minigames sucked so bad,..
Story was fetch-quest,..
they did improve loading times,..
combat was made better then ME1,..

My only problem with it was the gun-play got a bit repetitive. Of course, it's a long game. That's bound to happen.

My personal GOTY was Heavy Rain, followed by GOWIII. I think Mass Effect 2 is a great choice though. The story was incredible and the production values were second-to-none.

Really need to play it with a biotic heavy class to see the true beauty of the engine and some marvelously designed combat. The gun heavy classes are definitely not where it's at, but they are there to keep the game accessible to different gaming mentalities

I've watched my buddy play it on his 360 and it looks great. As far game of the year I'm not so sure about that because it wasn't the best TPS that would go to Vanquish and it didn't have the best graphics that would go to God of War 3 the only thing that it really excels at is the RPG elements which I would say it was best RPG of the year. For me the problem that stumbles the game is that as an TPS you keep getting pulled out of the action when you try to command your crew or change their gear. The loading times pull you out of the immersion the facial animations are really bad...but a game is not judged on it's single parts it's judged on everything as a whole with that being said I would say it's a strong game but it just doesn't meet my criteria for game of the year standards but that's just my opinion.

Not really. I don't have the time to play all the PS3 games I want as is, so having multiple platforms would drain me of more money than it's ultimately worth. I'm just into playing games of a franchise in order when possible.

I'm not much of a pc gamer but I did recently put in a new video card as it was reasonably priced (new as in not second hand). I hate playing pc games not at their full potential, feel like I'm missing something. Would this run it well enough;

Dual Core 2.8GHz

And should I even bother with ME1 considering my game save won't carry over?

Isn't there a free demo of Mass Effect 2 on Steam? Just download it and use FRAPS to see what frame rate you get at the settings you use.

I could max Mass Effect @ 1080p w/ an OC'ed 4850 (now have OC'ed GTX 460 1GB), but my components were more powerful than what you have currently. I'm not sure where you'll end up w/ fps, but it would be free and very easy to test your gear with the demo.

EDIT: I think my laptop has a video card similar in power to yours, and it runs ME2 just fine. On the other hand, my CPU is an i7, so there's quite a bit of a disparity in power there. I think you'll be OK. Post your results. Other people could be in your situation.

This was the 360 that interested me the most so I was happy when they announced it for the PS3. However, I played the demo yesterday and I must say that I was disappointed. I know it is only the demo but these are my issues:

1) Shepard movements are so stiff - he holds his gun out at arms length permanently while you are moving around and it doesn't appear that you can roll or dive or jump around corners or anything like that. His animations are very simple and static.

2) I hope I am wrong here - it seems like a Corridor shooter. Can you explore space? Is it an open world game like fallout? I hope so.

3) Sound effects are average - the thermal pistol thing, whatever, sounds crap.

4) Hud/Menu system is a bit cumbersome - why do I have to press X after selecting a gun from the wheel? Why do all my enemies have a red targeting box around them?

Everything else about the game is great in the Demo (graphics, story, voice acting, scripting).

I really hope that there is more to this game. There must be as it is one of the highest rated Xbox games, though I hope I am not let down.

I mostly agree with you but I was happy enough with the in-game graphics. Some of the cut scene textures are a little low and the voice acting at times could be better. Certaintly excited to play this but my expectations were not entirely met.

Steam's been running redonkulous deals on ME2. You might feel guilty after buying it for so cheap. LOL. I think it was around $9.99 the other day. I think it was $15 last I looked.
