From Oblivion to Skyrim: Changes and Predictions

"After five years of waiting, we now have the first scant bits of information we know for sure about The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. We know, for instance, that the game is a direct sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – and there will be dragons. We also know that Bethesda has been working tirelessly for years now, creating an almost entirely retooled engine." -IGN

The story is too old to be commented.

Pumped for this one and certainly some interesting predications to at least ponder about. I do wonder how the graphics will be for this one, as well as races available.

Due to this has anyone felt the need to go back and play Oblivion?

Calm Down Sunshine2859d ago

Started it again the other day, didn't try archery at all the first time around, so thought I'd give it a go this time.
I'm enjoying it more so far than my last melee/mage character.

Hopefully there's more than 2 voice actors in Skyrim.

emekcrash2859d ago

There were 12 in Oblivion actually.

And 200 NPCs.

Sean Ryno2859d ago

200, really, wow that sure is a lot. How many were there in Morrowind again. . . -_-

jessupj2859d ago (Edited 2859d ago )

Very pumped for this game as well but I'll be getting it second hand. As a PS3 owner Besthesda has give me a big 'f*ck you' on more than one occasion, so I'm just giving them a big 'f*ck you' back.

Pretty much every list I've seen on improvements for ES5 say the same as this one, I hope the guys at Bethesda listen to the fans and critics. That would perfect the ES series.

Mcardle2859d ago

They spelt Britain wrong....

ReservoirDog3162859d ago

The spelling they used in case they edit it:

"One of the hallmarks of the series, ever since Daggerfall's famously staggering landscape twice the size of Great Brittan...."

NonApplicable2859d ago

Who cares? Record it in the archives so we never forget when IGN spelt Britain wrong! They made a spelling mistake, I'm sorry we can't spelling bee champions like yourself. Find a better way to pick on IGN.

tablav2859d ago

A site the size of IGN should be proof read, just like conventional journalism. Whilst the difference between to and too is excusable, spelling a country wrong and publishing it is idiotic, not to mention a little disrespectful. I'm sure people would care more if the United Sttes of Umerica was mis-spelt.

I don't care if it's IGN or anyone else, if you're a writer, you should be able to spell.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

You spelled a word incorrectly in your comment as well. Want to guess which word?

Mcardle2858d ago

That doesn't apply to me I only live in one glass house not several. Yay me.

hassi942858d ago

Spelt is a correct spelling, especially in Britain. It's just a variation. Look it up in almost any English Dictionary website.

AssassinHD2854d ago

The Oxford English dictionary does indeed define the word as a past and past participle of "spell", but most other dictionaries define the word as a form of wheat.

I will concede to your point however. I stand corrected.

Mr Tretton2859d ago

I just hope you don't have to do shit like open 30 frickin gates of Oblivion.

I remember opening one gate after 35-40 hrs of playtime, and I thought, alright! I win! Right? hahaha

newflesh2859d ago

Yeah, I felt just the same as you. When I shut like 5th gate I got very very bored with it. All those oblivion gates are just copy/paste locations and it felt like a cheap way to prolong game time..

Bolts2859d ago (Edited 2859d ago )

I just want less bugs. Starting with Fallout 3 Beth's games has been buggy as hell. On the PC the bugs can be dealt with by console commands and mods but on the PS3 you're screwed and could lose hours of gameplay until they lay out the patch. In fact to this date Fallout 3 is still kinda buggy, never mind Fallout: NV which was buggier than a roach motel.

tdrules2859d ago

so buy it on PC.
the platform where support for a game doesn't end when the developer moves on and closes the matchmaking p2p servers.
fact is Bethesda will patch it on console but I guarantee they won't fix everything, its not in their nature
