But the point that really got me on how self-centered gamers can be was the humble indie bundle, i mean 25% of all the downloads were illegal, for a game that cost a PENNY. Says it all really

I would never ever even consider downloading a game that costs only a penny or 1 dollar or 1 euro. People who do that are a plague in the industry. I recently bought a ps3 and there is no way I am ever going to try to pirate games. I want quality with free updates and enhancements.

What I don't like is the price of some of the games out there. A game that costs 60 euros can't be 10 hours long. Or well it can, but it shouldn't. Developers need to make it worth what you are paying. ALL THE TIME. That is one reason why I'm getting for example LPB2 :)

One of the reason we don't get free DLC an expansions anymore is because of pathetic low life pirates.

Another is because of resellers of used games.

Companies have to make money some how and if they can't they close their doors but ignorant people just can't seem to grasp that because they think they are owed everything on a silver platter for free. Software pirates are and always be just criminals, not freedom of information fighters like they would like to think or tell everyone, just scum who wouldn't know what an honest days work was if it hit them in the face. So the rest of us hard working people pay the price for these thieving losers.

...you sure? I don't recall ever seeing expansions for FREE and DLC's came about because consoles don't have modding tools and have to have content created for them.

Pirates are scum, especially ones who stole the humble bundle, but I don't think Acti weren't making any money that they just HAD to sell maps for $15 a pop to get by.

The only people that lose out are us "idiots" who actually pay for what we play.

I usually skim an articles to get to the good part, but this was great. I read every word. Surprising it on N4G. These are the kind of articles i expect to reach over 500 degrees.

Now that I think about it this is the first article I read that talks about gamers greed instead of developers greed.

Valve giving wonderful free updates too TF2 for many years and then people working hard to get items in TF2 legitimately then Valve releases a store where you can buy stuff (people worked hard for) for outrageous prices and making half the community turn into Trade Fortress 2. Dick move Valve

Yeh, really for me, the humble indy bundle made it pretty obvious to me that all moral pretenses of pirates are bulls$%t. Simple as. Also, I find it funny how most of these dick moves came from pc games. Nice one guys.
I never got how gamers feel entitled to anything, I always think of and appreciate the effort developers put into games unless they are really god awful or I truly feel I just didn't get value for money (that's not very often).
Then again I hardly ever get games within the first few months of their release, it's a strategy I heartily recommend to anyone who feels that games aren't worth the 60$. Do you really need that game the day of release, I doubt it and you get the second opinions of the game after the hype and how it ages.You normally get it just in time for the first one or two dlc Packs

This is an interesting article because for all they go on about piracy and boycotts, it's websites just like this one that add fuel to the fire when some scandal does kick off.
