Disagree, Final Fantasy 13, to me was one of my favourites in the series, i liked how they took risks by forcing you to play as a certain character, it made the story far more immersive, loved every second of FF13.

2010 was meh. It had a few good games but only a few games really stood out. 2011 will be much better seeing as how you'll have games like Duke Nukem Forever, Uncharted 3, Elder Scrolls 5 (with a new engine), Portal 2, Mortal Kombat (finally going back to it's roots but with an improved combat system), The Last Guardian, and many more.

How can you agree with the whole comment? This entire article is silly to begin with. It is an example of the problems in gaming media. There is no sanity. It's either universe shifting awesome or claw your eyes out dreadful. Everything can't be the best every time there is a thing. There is a reason that no Uncharted 2 was released this year. It was released last year. Every game can't be Game of the Year. That doesn't mean gaming wasn't good/excellent/awesome. Next year has a very good outlook. Who is to say how it will end up? This current year had a good outlook and it ended up as a very good year for gaming. The only thing "meh" around here is the abundance of hyperbole peddlers wearing "gaming media" clothing.

I agree I over 20 games I was waiting for at the start of the year, as time wore on and layers of the hype machine were stripped away I realised that half of them would suck, I bought about 10 games or so and half of them were massively overrated.

AVP3, BFBC2, I was expecting big things, instead we got cookie cutter shooter galore.

2011 is going to make 2010 it's bitch and I'm happy for that fact.

I don't see what my admiration for Square Enix has to do with this. I did enjoy FF13 and Nier but those 2 games are far from the only reason I loved 2010. I just love a year that gives me great games like Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Fallout New Vegas, and so many more great games.

Tbh I tend to agree with the article to a certain extent. It wasn't a bad year for gaming - it just wasn't as good as we thought it would be.

Personally, part of the problem for me was starting off the year with ME2 - was always going to be hard for anything else to top that. Everything felt kind of shallow compared to that big bang in January.

Am looking forward to 2011 though - even if half the games we're anticipating get pushed back, it's still (hopefully) going to be a year to remember.

Heavy Rain, MAG, God of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, Skate 3, Gran Turismo 5, RUSE, Enslaved... I've had a great time this year.

2010 was a fine year for gaming, just as 2009, 2008 ect ect.

If you consider yourself someone that enjoys playing computer games then there must of been at least one game released this year that tickled your fancy.

The article sticks to a common theme: the lack legendary and memorable games. The way I see it, we're beyong this now. We will have fantastic gaming experiences but nothing like, for example, seeing Zelda stepping into 3D for the first time in Ocarina of Time, or seeing that train pulling into the station and jumping into your first battle like in FFVII. We already know we have glorious graphics and solid gameplay. Unless you consider motion control and hands free to be the next big step in gaming then theres simply nothing more we can push here, just perfect what we have already.

There were some decent games coming out but it was nothing compared to 2008 and 2009.
