MAG surpases 1million units sold

News has been leaked by a MAG forum member, Sniper768, siting that VGChartz.com is reporting the Sony PS3 exclusive Massive Action Game (MAG) has reached the milestone of over one million units sold.

This would mean MAG joins the likes of Warhawk & Socom: Confrontation in this elite status as one of the few ONLINE ONLY games to surpass the one million units sold mark.

Since its vgchartz it would be well over 1 million. $60 a game so about 60 mill earned. Taking into account dev cost, marketing, etc to be less than 60 millon therefore profit for Sony and therefore more games like this for us.

MAG is a good game but consolers just don't like to use team work. They prefer to just go Rambo, get a bunch of kills even if their team looses the round. hence the huge Black Ops numbers and plus MAG requires skill and tactics versus the arcade feel of Black ops.

That's why I like Battlefield, Operation 7 and MAG....they're team based shooters where you can exploit people running and gunning use Black Ops tactics.

I recently played Battlefield Play4Free and it's amazing how much more organized and intense it is than Black Ops.

Yeah, I've seen Squads in Battlefield and MAG sweep through together and wipe out teams that try and play Rambo style. It gets ugly when you don't play as some sort of team. Even as a sniper you should try and keep an eye on your squad mates to back them up.

IF MAG has reached 1 million sales, then congrats to its devs and Sony. If not, then it is still a fun game that will probably hit that number eventually.

It probably means it sold 1.3mill or something like that. This is great news and definitely means Sony can do a MAG2 if they wanted.

It's a shame though, over 1mill sold but you can hardly get 5k people online playing it. I got into a match last week and it took me 5mins to get in and the 128v128 mode only had 100 people on.

That's crazy and all while BO has over 300k at any given time. This game is way better than BO and it's a shame many gamer don't know this.

Let's hope MAG2 has a single player and more recognition.

Will Killzone 3 bring a team work mode or something? For example, that game type from halo reach thats 2v2v2v2v2 and the team who has more kills wins. I hope a game type like that, i'm more of a team player. :)

Mag is the best shooter of this generation but is under-rated because of fanboys allegiance and pure ignorance. I remember a certain game dev saying that they can't wait to see how mag is online because 256 online is unreal and that he believes it will be very laggy. Mag is out and it runs smooth online while having good graphics so it proves the nay payers and haters wrong. Majority of the gaming community believed that mag would be laggy online or that the amount of people online would make it confusing and a test fest but its amazing.

The ambition of Mag and what it accomplishes with so many people online puts it above all other shooters this gen. On a technological scale, Mag is the best shooter hands down in pocket.

Dylantalon1 are you serious? Mag may run smooth but the graphics are shit. Also not really sure why people are ignorant because they don't like mag. I try to get into it because I was highly disappointed in modern warfare 2, but mag got boring to me after 2 days of playing it. For a game to be online only you would think it would have alot of features, instead you get 4 or 5 game modes and 4 or 5 maps(cant really remeber). Thats fine if you like mag, but I don't see how anyone could possibly think this was the best shooter this gen.

Since when is 1 million considered "good" anymore? Aren't AAA titles supposed to easily pass this mark and much, much earlier on? For all the flack Alan Wake got, it has sold more then MAG, yet people still keep saying it had "Disappointing" numbers.

First of all, it is 360 owners who don't think a million is good sales! Secondly, I don't think Alan Wake sold anywhere near a million(I don't really pay attention to sales so I'm not sure). And third, AAA has absolutely nothing to do with sales!

Also, it is generally excepted among PS3 owners/fanboys that if something sold a certain amount on VGChartz, it actually sold 50% more; so you don't have to technically trust VGCharts in order to celebrate this particular news(if you're into celebrating sales.)

We need a million more to survive beyond Killzone and Socom, player count is low these days. I love this game, been playing sice the beta, but somehow I think Sony didn't get the most out of it. Finally a shooter that brings something unique, yet they released it like any other game, with minimal advertisement. It's large-scale online warfare, and it works. Should sell like hotcakes. This is one game for which sales really matter, support from Zipper has been excellent but I'm afraid that next year this game will fade away, with only the last hardcore clans playing. Perhaps the beauty of it, it is a hardcore type game, but as a fan it was sad to see this unique game get hammered in the reviews for not being avarage. I'm sure millions more will love it once they've been part of a well functioning squad playing the game like it's supposed to be played, going for objectives with multiple teams. Crossing a Domination map while attacking, it can be so cool. Best online shooter for me, but we need more players.

The game sold less then Medal Of Honor, which was the worst FPS I've ever seen. Not saying much for MAG.
