Next GTA Could Become 'Best Selling Game of All Time,' says Pachter

Take-Two just shared its much improved fiscal results for the year ended on October 30, and things could be even better for the publisher next year, assuming a new Grand Theft Auto is released. Gamers are anxiously awaiting Rockstar's next GTA, and it's looking like GTA V can't ship any later than early 2012, due to key Rockstar employees' contracts expiring at that time, said Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter.

To be fair, he's not going to state anything other than either (A) the obvious or (B) wild predictions, so long as he's talking for free.

Like it or not, Pachter does have one thing going for him - he has a lot of industry contacts, and thus hears about a lot of inside deals before they reach N4G - but he would lose those contacts (and the money he makes) if he just ran his mouth everytime he heard anything.

I totally agree. They just went a little too realistic, not really any over the top missions like gta SA or the other ones had.

Though they were going in the right direction with The Ballad of Gay Tony, that was more fun than the entire GTA IV game.

GTA IV may not have been to everybody's taste, but what it did, it did well. For me, it was the most fun I'd had in a GTA game since GTA 3.

I think the realism and character depth of GTA 4 with the expanse of San Andreas would be the ultimate game, but let's go easy on Rockstar...every GTA game has always taken risks.

played through it twice. it was a good game not 10/10 taht many sites gave it more like 8/10

saints row 2 was also 8/10 but the fun factor was a lot more and this is coming from a gta series fan

next gta needs to be as big as GTA:SA was with the same kind of rpg elements.

i don't mind if they do stick with VC or SA for next

but how about both SA and VC as one big games with some added locations.

Nobody trades a game in after 4 hours unless you have no vision whatsoever. Considering GTA games unlock gradually and reward you with the better missions, cars, properties etc as the game progresses, you should have ben aware of the fact that 4 hours wasn't going to give you much.

People are far too used to modern games that are over in 8 hours and have big bangs every 5 seconds. My biggest problem with 4 was that your friends wouldn't stop calling you ever hour of the day, then got pissed when you told them to go away!!!!!

let's see by 2012 both ps3/xbox will be pass 60million WW. so for a game to do 20-25million isn't really out of the picture since gta 4 has done what 17-18million if i am not wrong.

but don't be surprised if RS announce another reda dead game before the next GTA.

as you see see RS have many great IPs and they are trying to get away from making a gta game every couple of years i do believe we will see one announced in 2012 and see the game either fall of 2012 or late 2013

also don't forget that RS:N is working on AGENT yes the same team that does gta but it could be big enough to do 2 games at a time but from what i have ready they are working on agent only at this time.

since both are suppose to be huge franchises for RS

Red Dead was the shit. I wasn't mad at all when the VGAs gave it GOTY. But I want the series to go back to the San Andreas over the top, ridiculous, action that made that game so fun.

As for GTA5, I'm looking forward to it but hopefully it goes somewhere new, but if they did happen to return to San Andreas and make it as deep as Liberty City was in 4, then that's great.

And if they returned to Vice City, that's even better. Vice City is my favorite of the series and I'd love to jump a river in a Stallion to Yankee Rose as the neon lights of the city fly by me again.

I don't see how they're going to make the graphics any better. If anything thing I would think a downgrade would have to happen to add all the cool stuff GTA San Andreas had. I could be wrong but if it goes multi platform I just don't see that much of a drastic change. There would be so much limitation. I've recently been sticking to PC, thinking about waiting for the ps4 or xbox 720 to come out. But if it's not on pc I'll have to play it on console.

I also like the realism in GTA IV, it made it much more fun replay value. Play Saints Row if GTA IV is too realistic for you. I don't want the new GTA's to be cartoony.

I agree with most people hearing about how it was a dissapointment. The online is okay but i wonder will they build on Rockstar's own Red Dead Remdemption "Free Roam Mode"

That mode is like a game in itself. They should expand on that. I also think 16 players seems small at times(mainly in Red Dead). Either add more player support or get the AI characters involve.
