honestly this mmo has soo much potential and the beta has been great. I don't normally like mmos but this one is a winner to me.

Dragun6195309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

Yeah, Just played it today and I have to say I'm hooked. Not really an MMO player either, but I like this.

@ElementX

I dunno if it would flop, but it has good chance of being successful from what I'd played. Very Solid game play mechanics. And about the Subscription fee, It's an MMO. Your paying so you can help the Dev Team keep the servers up and deliver steady updates while on XBL your paying just to play online on games that you can play online for free on PC & PS3. And Obviously, People would prefer the subscription fee to be free. Hell, I'm hoping SOE will change the Sub Fee or make a cheaper Sub Fee, or even better make it free for PS Plus Members before releasing the game cause I'm really considering buying the game.

UCMEandICU5308d ago (Edited 5308d ago )

I'm not typically an MMO gamer but this one seems fantastic cause it's not this point and click point and click thing we see in a lot of MMO with lots of grind grind grind.

It's got dynamic combat and it very action oriented and it feels good.

If PS+ gets to play the game with no subscription then I'll certainly be getting the game but that $15 per month is a bit steep for me.

Creating your own hero or villain is so satisfying cause they really make it feel like it's already a well known up coming character in the DC universe. They did some pretty great things with this game and this is only the beta.

Tony-Red-Grave5309d ago

wow tge friends update is exactly what i asked for xD but they forgot the audio bugs

ElementX5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

DC Universe will flop. From the comments coming from PS3 fanboys in earlier articles, they don't want to pay subscription fees. I seriously see this game as being defunct within a year and a half. The fanboys say MS is bogus for charging $50 (now $60) a year for online, when they can play for free on PS3. If this game is $15/month, the going rate for MMOs, that will come to $180/year. Much more than $60 for XBL. I just don't see it happening. If PS3 owners diss MS for charging $60/year, why would they shell out $180 for ONE game?

*EDIT*
I have no problem with Live fees. I can afford it. I can also afford to pay for an MMO on PS3. I just have to see how things turn out. I'm basing my comment on previous articles I've read about DC Universe. People were saying it better be free. It won't be and I have no problem with that. I'm just going on what I've read in other comments.

Read the comments in this article, POINT PROVEN!!!!!!
http://n4g.com/news/547662/...

90% of the PS3 owners on N4G are b!tching about a subscription fee! At least I back up my comments with facts.

R_aVe_N5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

You do understand this is also on PC right? So your comment has no substance at all and clearly points you out as a troll. The beta is to get more people interested on the PS3 side of things. The difference between paying for Xbox Live and a pay to play game is different. Xbox Live you have to pay for services that should be free to begin with. N4G is crap compared to the world of gaming once you think about it. People who like the DC world will pay to play these types of games. I for one would pay if the game is good, and it looks to be just that. I was a MMO gamer long before I moved to consoles.

On topic
I am really enjoying the beta so far it really does have a lot potential!

ElementX5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

I'm not a troll, I'm a PS3 owner! My PSN screen name is listed in my profile! Add me if you want! You disagree with me? Check out my PSN name, add me, I have trophies, only 460, but they're there!

PC's best days are behind it. The truth is that PC games don't offer as much as they used too. Back in the day PC was the king of multiplayer and hires games. Halo came along and changed everything. Today the console is the king of multiplayer games.

It used to be standard def TV's vs CRT monitors. Now we have HDTVs, not to mention consoles with HDDs. The only area PC is still thriving is in MMOs and RTS, but who knows how long that will last. Steam is doing well, but it doesn't even come close to console sales.

Newtype5309d ago

You can plug a computer into a TV.

Bolts5309d ago

WTF is Orion talking about? That was a completely unprompted and boring troll about PC gaming and the death of blah blah blah, a subject that he clearly is clueless on.

I especially loved the little comment on how Halo came along and "changed everything" and the MMO and RTS genre won't last....HAHAHAHA.

Talk about random shit.

GodsHand5308d ago

@2.1

"The difference between paying for Xbox Live and a pay to play game is different. Xbox Live you have to pay for services that should be free to begin with."

Well if I read your comment correct you are still paying to play all games online, because the other services should be free. So you are not just paying to play a MMO(RPG), you are also paying to play FPS, RTS, Puzzle, Racing, Fighting, etc., online.

While I don't ageee with paying full price for a game ($50-$60), you still have to ontop of that pay anywhere from $10-$20 to play online. I might be swayed to play a game like this if they offered the game at $10-$20, then have to pay a monthly fee to play online. Kind of like divx from Circuit City (not Divx you see today) where you buy a dvd for $5, and pay($3) to watch the movie every time you wanted to see if after your initial viewing. That flop, I guess they should of charged full price, and still have a fee imposed after your viewing, just like they due with these types of games, pay full price, and pay every month. I don't know what it cost to run, and maintaine a server farm, but I know it can not be every cent they collect from people paying, I bet they don't even own the servers, and are merely renting them from another company.

I love how no one can have an opinion around here without being called a Troll. Troll has to be the most overused word by gamers on message boards. Give it rest! You didn't own anyone because you called them Troll. It just shows you don't have anything relevant to say, so you throw the Troll card. Wow you're cool.

@Newtype So what. The point is PC no longer has the advantage. There's nothing special about PC gaming anymore unless you're into modding, but that isn't gonna sell games.

R_aVe_N5309d ago

@ElementX I was not calling you a console troll you are just trolling the thread is all. There is a big difference between the types HEHE. I would have just took your comment as an opinion if you would have left out the fanboy talk.

ElementX5309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

So stating facts about previous N4G users and articles is trolling? I posted a link which shows NUMEROUS people complaining of a subscription fee. I was posting fact, not nonsense trolling.

*EDIT* Gotta love the stealth disagrees. I said nothing in this post which was factually incorrect. I also get stealth disagrees in my post about my screen name and a link showing a photo of all 3 controllers in my living room. LOL, wow, the fanboys are out in full force this morning. God, it's only 3:40AM Central time. I guess I could be getting European disagrees, since it's afternoon there...

*EDIT* I mentioned fanboys because I was referring to fanboys, not your average PS3 owner, there's a huge difference, R_aVe_N.

L-a-i-n5309d ago

No need to worry about it is just two people opinion on the same thing. I agree with Raven for the most part although troll might not be the best word to describe it. I think more like short sighted would have worked better.

Dnied5308d ago

well for one, it isn't 90% of "ps3 owners" so those aren't really facts. Two, they arent complaining about subscription fees they are complaining that xbox charges just to be online to play any game at all and all of its competitors give us the same service for free..

You seem to be mixing up being smart with your money, and being cheap.

There's a huge difference, mmo's have always had subscriptions and if the game is good enough, I'm sure they will pay... the difference is there's an option for "PS3 owners"..they don't need to pay just to play their favorite games online regardless of what game it is.

Call of duty for example, you're basically paying to play that game right now. Disregard where the money actually goes and you're dishing out money to a game that its PS3 counterparts pay nothing for. If you were to have DC on xbox you'd be paying BOTH fees.

There's a difference between spending money because you want to and spending money because you have to. If I want to stop DC I just cancel my subscription, I can go back to call of duty or something. If I'm on xbox I could stop paying, but I stilll need to pay for live if I want to play any other game online

Chris3995309d ago (Edited 5309d ago )

You DO realize that of the 40 million + PS3 users, a lot of those people play MMOs and DON'T haunt N4G all day. Most MMO players post here as heavily as Wii fanboys do (not very). This community is a minority, a vocal one, but it can hardly be used to dictate market trends.

Typical idiotic comment from someone who hasn't played the beta. As a long time MMO player, I can safely say that it's one of the most polished, fun games I've played in YEARS. Doesn't feel like a beta aside from a few stability issues. I'm really suprised that they managed to cram it on a console and it gives hope to what the future will bring.

Do you even understand the concept of an MMO even? If you have that game, you probably won't play anything else, that's why you can justify $15/ month.

Baka-akaB5309d ago

^ this ^

Usually when a news is posted about a mmo here ... it degenerate into on of the three following argument or even a mix of all three :

- "subs sux" , with the occasional guild wars zaelot (mind you i'm a big fan too but i'm cautious and lowering my expectation) chanting "gw2 will kill them all"

- "WoW sux"

- "game XXX will fail because nothing can touch wow" .

With such a "complex array of opinions" , it's obvious most people wont bother discussion mmos here .

R_aVe_N5308d ago

I completely agree I have been playing MMO games for years. I just recently got into consoles for a little something different while I was waiting on something else to come out that I wanted to play. This is a really small community compared to the MMO crowd. This is actually a really good MMO compared to a lot of stuff released as of late very polished for a beta.

UnwanteDreamz5308d ago

Did I miss an article with these statistics and data to prove your comment? Oh theyn you are just trolling huh? I like your strawman argument though. Trying to compare MMO subscription fees to Xbox Live is a new one.

Having played the beta for a few days now. I just wanna say one thing...FUCK YOU DOORWAY BLOCKERS!

TroyAndAbed5309d ago

Just downloaded the beta yesterday. I haven't gotten a chance to play, however. : /

Any tips for a noob?

Chris3995309d ago

It's not a typical point and click MMO. Once you get used to that you're golden.

I've found that flight characters, while fun, are harder to target with unless you pick a ranged weapon.

Raendom5309d ago

That second sentence describes my character perfectly. :D

Flight + Bow + Tech = AWESOME.

I really love the animation on some of the attacks, it's without doubt the BEST MMO I've ever played. But then again... most MMOs are boring grinding nonsense.

256bit5309d ago

15gb update....and thats not a lie trust me.

TroyAndAbed5309d ago

Sweet! Thanks, guys! It sounds amazing!

rekof5309d ago

Game is great,I am addicted beyond belief,...
They need to use some AA on ps3,..(or increase fontsize),.. but their main concern shouldbe stability,..because it freezes the system like ,.. nothing ever seen,..

It is so great,..I don't know how to describe it,..

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
