In-depth Review: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift - Electronic Theatre

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger didn’t make things difficult for the player on purpose; it was just naturally assumed that the likes of Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat and King of Fighters had all featured regularly in your personal gaming library since the early 90’s. BlazBlue: Contiuum Shift makes good on this oversight however, introducing a fairly well presented series of tutorials that offer the basics of control. A challenge mode is also offered, offering advice by way of some chosen combination attacks from BlazBlue: Contiuum Shift’s often staggering range. Beyond this, it remains the job of the player to learn timings and aural cues, but it’s a task that all players will comfortable with this time around. There is also a ‘Beginner Mode’ control system, but as with The King of Fighters XII, utilising the system essentially drains any of the competitive value from your investment.
