wow....GT5 in 8th spot? I thought for sure it would have sold better than Fable 3 atleast.

L4DRocks3498d ago (Edited 3498d ago )

Yeah I'm kinda surprised at that. But good to see Fable 3 is doing great same with Donkey Kong returns. Fallout New Vegas seemed to drop fast.

@ziro yes it did that is why I'm surprised it outsold GT5.

@neobasch it actually had a whole week (7 days) not just 5 days. Plus Black Friday happened during that week and most games sell the most in the first few days so that really isn't an excuse anymore.

NeoBasch3498d ago (Edited 3498d ago )

Surprised? O_O Um... GT5 had only five days to sell before the end of November. That sounds insanely good to me.

EDIT: @L4DRocks

My bad, seven. Regardless, a week does not equal a month. While most don't get a full month to sell, games like Black-Ops release early (November 9th) to pick up word of mouth, which helps it sell during Black Friday. GT5 didn't have that. Neither did Donkey Kong. Those are the only two surprises this month in my honest opinion.

GT5 got crushed, people just dont care like they used to

glad to see Hot Pursuit beat it in the USA, the better game won

"glad to see Hot Pursuit beat it in the USA, the better game won "

Glad to see GT5 outsold it worldwide, the better game won...

NeoBasch3498d ago (Edited 3498d ago )

7 Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (PS3, 360, Wii, PC) ELECTRONIC ARTS
8 **Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) SONY

Just thought I'd point out the discrepancy most people seem to be unaware of. NPD now charts multiple platforms as one individual entry. GT5 has only been out for a week. Need for Speed? Most of the month, and available for every possible system. Granted, these aren't Halo or Gears numbers, but it's America. What did you expect? : \

Also, the ** means NPD did not count any hardware bundles.

Perspective people.

Also didn't Fable 3 come out in Oct too.

Edit: Well I guess that explains why Sony hasn't released numbers for GT5 then :s

N4PS3G3498d ago

Yes, GT5 got outsold by a month old game game, of a relatively new franchise compared to GT, and even lower reviews.

Where did you get that 4 million approximation? I'm genuinely curious. Pray tell

AceofStaves3498d ago

Didn't GT5 release Nov. 24? For it to place 8th for the month, with only 6 days of sales, is a solid performance.

kenkaniff3498d ago

Do you guys realize when GT5 released?

RememberThe3573498d ago (Edited 3498d ago )

Still, it had a week. And being one of the most anticipated games of the year, that number is disappointing. However, with the delay and the lower than expected reviews, it's not too surprising.

@sleepy3: I'm a huge GT fan but I can't argue with you on that. I remember people saying that this game will do 10 million easy. At this rate that seems unlikely. It seems to me that the long wait between 4 and 5 has left a tole on the market. People who would have bought GT in the past now have gone out and got Black Ops instead(not a good decision). The landscape of racing videogames seems to have shifted with out GT around. I realize the Prologue can out but that was for the serious fans not the mainstream.

This really does make me sad because it's easily one of the best games I've played this year and by far the deepest. Hopefully, sales pick up and the game can burn for a long time. It's the best racing games I've ever played.

donkey kong country was released on the 21st and its higher up the list?

Didn't see that one coming....a donkey kong game outselling Gran turismo.

To be put in perspective, Halo 3 sold 5 mill in a week to a lower installed base, and i think we can safely say GT is a bigger franchise, or at least that was true up to GT4, whether it still is i don't know. I don't think anyone would have foreseen a halo game selling more than a gran turismo game EVER. But such is this gen. FPS comes first....everything else comes after.

But the game doesn't have to sell a billion copies though. Once it sells over 3 million we can be confident of a strong online community so when you get the need to race at 4 in the morning, you will find people on there.

On a another note, how in world is wii fit still selling?

They don't play games, they play NPD. Once a month, that 7 days of availability can be magically equal to 30.

Man, 360's should have an NPD application alongside LastFM and Facebook already the way the software starved rally behind it every month. A few months from now when the other half will have moved on to KZ3 and Resistance 3 etc, they'll still be fawning at Black Ops sales from 6 months earlier, lol.

Oh well. Being that Greenberg's 2011 PR lineup is pretty much just NPD and timed DLC from old 2010 games, just let 'em have their soothers. ;)

Pay attention to how they combine the SKU's across all platforms for this chart. So for any game to be in the top representing only 1 platform it must be huge sales. Just Dance 2 beat all platforms of Madden for example. Go Donkey Kong! Retro deserved that! :)
