Miles @ The Married Gamers picks his five favorite collector's editions. "For many gamers, paying the extra money for a collector’s edition is a waste, but for others, it’s a treasure that they proudly display in their living rooms for all to see. There has been a lot of “collectors editions” in this generation of gaming, some have been amazing while others were a disgrace and literally a waste of money. This is the second of 2 articles that analyzes the good and the bad collector’s editions that have come out over the last few years."
"Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014. Fast-forward to the dark year of 2025, and not only is A World of Keflings coming to Steam, but there's already a playable demo! Perhaps the cheerful, no pressure gameplay that the Keflings bring is just what we need nowadays," says Co-Optimus.
It's been officially over 2,500 days since The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed, and fans are still waiting for more than a logo and a mountain range.
It will come out in another 1000-2000 days or so. I’d rather they remake Morrowind. After they added quest arrows, sprint button, making stats lesser and the big nerfs to spells Elder Scrolls has been too simplified. They could change that with ES6 but I don’t have much faith in modern Bethesda. I would love to be wrong
Xbox Game Studios' Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is reportedly planned to release in late 2026 to celebrate 25 years of Xbox.
They coulda started with Halo 3 remake ... I know Halo CE remaster was not proper with the art style but still, remaking after a remaster seems dull, when Halo 3 and Reach have started to show some age.
Booo! Used to be a time when "collector's editions" were no more than the normal game. With swag. Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games amongst many great RPGs came with Maps.
I still have my Fallout 3 Lunchbox and bobble head displayed on my shelf, just like the article said I would.
I totally agree about the guy talking about how Aksys GAmes marketed Record of Agarest War as some anime porn, though I don't agree it is the best.
I think a lot of good collector's editions are from JRPGs (sorry for being biased)
Just look at how much work NIS America, Working Design, Atlus and XSEED put in their collector's edition... (well for NIS, it ain't simple as googling them, they were THAT limited and unknown)
Though when a big western game comes out, its collector's edition will probably be expensive, yet rewarding
(sorry I don't have that many western game collector's editions, so I can't say much)
