TechRadar: Microsoft has responded to the myriad reports that Kinect has been 'hacked' by saying that it always wanted its motion controller to be open.
According to a transcripted interview with Microsoft program manager Alex Kipman, Kinect hasn't been hacked at all, merely played around with.
"Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014. I think it's cool what modders are doing with Kinect. I posted an article just a couple of days ago with some of the cool things that they've got Kinect doing. I especially liked the real time 3d imagining that the one guy had. It'll be cool to see what the modding community comes up with, and if Microsoft will make use of some of their ideas in the future.
