Phil Harrison Joining Microsoft In Praise Of The Kinect?

Phil Harrison partnering with the Microsoft's Kinect? the possibilities are there but in the mean time read this excerpt and then watch the video and you'll see how it all started

Speaking during a private lunch at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this week, Harrison commented: It's a very interesting and frustrating thing for me to experience because I have been banging the drum about social gaming for a long time, with SingStar, EyeToy and Buzz.”

"And our Japanese colleagues said that there is no such thing as social gaming in Japan – people do not play games on the same sofa together in each other's homes. It will never happen. And then out comes the Wii."

Phil Harrison has showed his passion for games in the past. Its good to see that he isn't blinded by fanboy goggles. I had the opportunity to play both Move and Kinect yesterday at Bestbuy, I LOVED the feel of both of them...but I'd be lying if I said that Kinect didn't impress me more. The fact that I'm controlling the game with my body is just so damn awesome.

Everyone at the store was too embarrased to play it until they saw how much fun me and my friend were having with it. Its a shame that a person would let what other people think dominate their actions. The only downsides to it is that its too pricey right now AND I don't have the space for it.

Oh and as far as lag is concerned, its virtually non-existent. You have to WANT to hate on Kinect too notice the lag.

Is Kinect 1:1? Nope.

Will the mainstream care? Nope

Will Kinect's lack of 1:1 tracking stop an unbiased gamer from having fun with Kinect? Hell no! Nothing compares to having a crowd at Best Buy cheer you on as you kick your friends ass doing hurdles in Kinect Sports. If they had Dance Central on display, I probably would have been there all night :)

I can't believe I keep getting tricked into clicking to his website

I wasn't sure about the lag either but I got a chance at trying at Kinect and Kinect Adventures at Best Buy as well. You don't notice the lag at all once you start playing it. At one point, a 50-60 year old guy started asking me about it and just when he came up to me, the screen split into two. He joined in with me, it was hilarious.

Phil Harrison has been pushing the casual thing on PS3 for a long time though I think this is the point HHG is trying to get across but comes across as a bit wrong as hes not actually praising the Kinect only agreeing what MS are trying to do as it was basically what he was trying to do for Sony all those years. It kinda worked too and if it wasn't for guys like him big games like Guitar Hero etc.. wouldn't have been a big hit as Sony started the causual thing with accessories as mainstream first with eyetoy.

Here we go again -- Mr. Delusional, grown ass man wishing he could've been a pro-wrestler but was too small so he opted to talk video games to children -- Is at it again in full swing.

Yo yo it's your boy alpha! aight I got this from a source of mine earlier. It seems kevin butler was approached by MS for an exclusive two years contract.

I believe you missed the hint of sarcasm in my comment.

But not really -- See, in the industry that is entertainment when you become a PR person it's very hard to rebrand yourself after being branded with one company.

What you're saying here is like having Steve Jobs get hired by Microsoft to sell Windows whatever version. It could happen, sure -- But the public, as long as Apple is on the market, is still going to assimilate him with Apple.

Same thing here, Kevin Butler is a PR-guy, sure. But being PR for "AN" industry and "A" product is vastly different than being a PR guy for one industry and one product. As long as Sony is on the market, Kevin Butler's name will always be tied to it -- regardless of monetary means or not.

Microsoft wouldn't be as foolish as to offer him any money because he's already chained to one product in one industry. Now, Mc'donalds could hire him to sell Big Macs and they could do well with him. But that's another industry all together.

Sarcasm4983d ago

lol funny, but you know it COULD happen. Kevin Butler is tied by contract to Sony, but that doesn't mean it won't end and he'll do something for another company if the price is right. And Microsoft knows that best. And yes I know, you were being sarcastic and parody of HHG.
