Review: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time HD (GameDevotion)

Game Devotion writes: "It would be easy for me to just cut this review short, thus restricting it to just one mere line, and give the game a perfect rating then calling it a day. I’m not going to do that, though. Yes, I do consider Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the first in a trilogy, to be a masterful experience worthy of the highest accolades, but I’m not reviewing the original game. I’m reviewing the HD version that has just hit the PSN (with its sequels: ‘Warrior Within’ and ‘Two Thrones’ to hit next). Is this still the same classic game it was before? Find out below."

I bought the game yesterday on PSN and I am amazed by how bad the voice acting is in this game it totally ruined it for me

Nitrowolf24922d ago

lol well i don't expect it to have the best VA considering it's PS2

Playing the sly collecting, the voice change in the third game somewhat ruined a part of it for me. I hope orignal returns in the next one

.
I think the voice acting is good.

I never thought Yuri Lowenthal is the Prince though...

Akagi4922d ago

Wow, to be put off a game by the VA's. How shallow are you? I for one didn't mind the VA.

rjdofu4922d ago

how about the frame-rate?

Akagi4922d ago

Only part where FPS dipped for me is when you smash walls and there is a lot of smoke effects on screen. But the dip only lasts a second, barely noticable.

You really need to just enjoy a game this i think was one of the most primitive games of last gen. The story was top notch gameplay was fun over and over. It was something completely new and still to this day i don`t see a lot of games that can just capture the feel of controlling time like you can in this game.

To me at least Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was one of the best adventure games i ever played. The puzzles to where ones to be remembered and very fun at that to.

this game is a classic, bought day one and can't wait for the other two to hit psn.

Chillbilly4922d ago

Bought it day 1, got the platinum last night. I love playing these updated classics! They did a great job remastering this awesome game. Well worth $15. I never experienced the frame rate issues mentioned in the article, or at least didn't notice them.

My only complaints: the audio level of Farrah's voice is much lower than Prince. So at times it was difficult to hear what she says. Also, cut-scenes are not HD but that's to be expected.

Ubisoft to Focus on "Return to Leadership" in Open World Genre, Expand Live Service Experiences

Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.

enkiduxiv1d 4h ago

Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.

excaliburps16h ago

Well, to be fair, they did pump out good open world games before. It was used as a template so much that people now know what it means when you say it's like an Ubi open world collectahon.

shinoff218314h ago

What though? I can't think of one game they had where I liked anything about it. Atleast since the ps3/360 Gen

Kornholic14h ago

If they have never been the leader in open world gaming, then explain me this: why does almost every open world game follow the same tired old Ubisoft open world formula?

Follow the Leader.

Aphrodia2h ago

YO dont' talk bad about the General. There'll be problems...

You were never the leader bro 🤣

shinoff21831d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*

Chocoburger28d ago

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
