One of the UK's most senior anti-gun crime police chiefs has hit out at violent video games - calling them "extremely distasteful".

Oh no no, Guns aren't used to shoot people, Video games are. /SARCASM

Well, duh. Everyone knows that even WW1 was caused by them. The Beta version of Tetris I think was responsible.

thorstein3867d ago

No, it was Dungeons & Dragons!

Oh, wait, Reefer Madness? Alcohol? Opium?

Black people? Middle Easterners? The Nazis?

White people?

I am so sick of the scapegoats. Saying guns or (insert scapegoat here) are responsible for killings is like putting a band-aid on a severed arm.

milohighclub3867d ago

what about violent films they've been round longer.

RedDead3867d ago (Edited 3867d ago )

Yeah but, ya know, it couldn't possibly be the innocent movies, it's not their fault they have violence....

Silly police chief

Edit---hmmm, not silly police chief, silly me for not reading the article.

Excalibur3867d ago

yes, video games invented violence. ;)

Amazingly the police chief was quick to blame video games as the problem but NO WHERE did it say the cabby played video games.

Ummm MAYBE he watched "Taxie Driver" Mr. Police Chief, you gonna outlaw movies as well? or maybe he drank a Coke before he started shooting, you gonna outlaw Soda Pop now?

Bottom line, these people that are Nukin' Futs are gonna do whatever they are gonna do and blaming WHATEVER other than the person themselves is SO much easier.

Incipio3867d ago

It's so easy to use videogames as a scapegoat.

soundslike3867d ago (Edited 3867d ago )

List of scapegoats:
4. Gayz
3. Liberalz
2. Jewz
1. Videogames made by gay liberal jewz

"Vaz later pressed Adrian Whiting, Assistant Chief Constable of Dorset Police, on the same subject. He was less convinced of a direct link between violent games and gun crime.

"It's difficult directly to correlate between violence on video games, in films and on television and people's immediate activity, particularly in relation to the use of firearms," he said. "I think probably it is linked, but in a much broader sociological spectrum. I don't have any strong view that participation in such games leads inevitably, as it were, to some sort of crime commission""

This guy pretty much says it. Yes, there is a connection, but it is more interconnected than blaming just games.

That´s just a scapegoat from inside an

Nate-Dog3867d ago

Ah, another person that knows nothing about video-games trying to lay the blame on them for crimes. Oh joy.

On a side-note, Alpha-Male22 you bring up a good point in mentioning the other means of communication in media such as television and films. Rarely hear about those being blamed these days despite how realistic they are, especially in comparison to video-games.
