The DC Universe Beta that was promised to people who pre-ordered the game launched on Friday. However a quick scan of the comments on DC Universe Online's facebook page tells a different story. Many have not received their invite or received word from SOE.

Hmm, the beta it is only for Pre orders?

You can sign up for the Beta for free, PC or PS3 Version:
http://www.dcuniverseonline...

I signed up months ago, and I didn't receive any notificacion.

EDIT:

The registration is closed.

I got my beta, but it's for PC. Why they chose the PC over my PS3 is beyond me. I have a crap computer.

Bolts5326d ago

Why PC over PS3...are you serious? Name a single console MMO beta. Oh yeah that's right there isn't any. This game is going to live or die on the PC. That's why the beta is PC only.

There will be PS3 beta invites for preorders by the end of the month according to the main site, so that is a "single console MMO beta". If you meant name a single console MMO, then FFXI.

I'm thinking what OSM meant, was he signed up with his preorder info for the PS3 version and got a PC invite, or he got a random beta code from twitter or such and it was for the PC only.

I myself would prefer a PS3 beta invite over PC, as I'll be playing it on my PS3 if its any good when it comes out.

To Fanboi...you forget that FF has had a MMO on PS2 that was quite successful.

Raoh5326d ago

i was in the Everquest Online Advnetures beta on the ps2 i still log on from time to time when i had a ps3 that is.

ffxi was very successful on the ps2 as well...

Yeah the freebie signups were supposedly available to a select few. Though a few people who signed up for those have gotten invites. The problem is they promised invites if you pre-ordered the game and didn't deliver. Not only that but they waited to tell you how to fix it until you were unable to do so. It is more likely that freebie signups will be able to beta closer to the launch of the game.

rdgneoz35326d ago

If you look at the website, it says pre-order and send them a pic of the receipt before the 15th, and you'll get a invite by the 30th.

"To receive a Beta key by November 30, 2010, you must submit your valid pre-order register or eCommerce receipt no later than November 15, 2010." - http://www.dcuniverseonline...

How can someone disagree with a direct quote from the games main website?

Also, they haven't screwed anyone over yet. Seeing as they said "by November 30, 2010" if you submit the stuff, people have a little over a week to go before they can start complaining about not getting invites. If you don't get in after that date and did everything on time, then vent about it.

Merivigian5327d ago

Why pay for a crap game every single month, when you could just pay once for GW2..

maverick405326d ago (Edited 5326d ago )

Because I am rich and play the best mmorpg of all time....which is world of warcraft. Guildwars is the poor mans WOW.

silvacrest5326d ago

not all of us want to be some elf or barbarian set in the past

i like superheroes and many others do as well, if you dont thats fine but why bash a game you havn't even played?

it makes you look ignorant

bootleggamer5327d ago

I'm not sure I would after the way they treated their pre-order's.

despair5327d ago

Its not that clear cut, as someone who scours the dcuosource forums and other sites, its definitely SOE dropping the ball but it was clearly stated that by nov 30th pre-order beta invites would be sent out so there is still time, my guess is most of those who got shafted would get theirs soon enough as long as they resubmit their preorder image or when they submitted a ticket at SOE website or even when they call the service line.

The problem for others was that the site did not state what format to send the preorder proof as and many were reject like .doc file as they could be tampered with. Still this is no excuse and with the PS3 beta also on the nov 30th deadline, I'm hoping they don't have the same screw up when we have to get our beta keys.

@Merivigian

you know nothing about the game clearly so keep your biased and uninformed opinions to yourself.

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
