The Fight: Lights Out: Another Victim Of Misleading Reviews

Sony’s PlayStation Move exclusive fighter, The Fight: Lights Out, has been on the receiving end of unfavorable reviews from the gaming press but is this criticism deserving or misleading?

All of these reviews are wrong and your right huh?

Reviews are opinions basically and you seem to have a different one.

However, you are accusing them of misleading which implies purpose.

So what motivation do they have to mislead? They want the game to fail? They are 360 fanboys?

Should I break out my tin foil hat?

You are told by the game to stand still but you don't have to. So the game tells me to stand still.. Sounds to me like they want you to stand still. Don't blame the reviewer for misleading when he is just following the games instructions.

Do you have any proof they only played the first few fights without building up any points?

I think it is a bad design decision to make the game play like crap at first when using motion controls. The first few fights are like I'm drunk they miss so bad that isn't something I want to grind through to be able to play an accurate game and enjoy it.

That's my opinion but I'm not going to accuse you of trying to mislead me even though I have the game and played it and agree with the low reviews. I wouldn't of scored it as low but then again opinion.

I feel that Sony should have pushed more that the game is a simulator. Then you an others wouldn't be surprised when the game played bad at first but then got better.

I sort of had the expectation it was like tekken. You jump in a fight with stats already set. I had no clue you had to build up your stats. Which for me I think is better. Any game that allows building up stats over time is better than ones that don't IMO.

Yep, it seems not many realized you actually had to level / train your character in order to kick serious a$$. You could tell some reviews didn't when they would mention no power behind punches or like a love tap, or mention not accurate at all, when you actually can hit pretty hard and are very accurate if you spend time training your character in those attributes.

"Reviews are opinions basically and you seem to have a different one"

Reviews should be more than just opinions. The reviewer should determine the target audience and explain why it is suited or not suited for it.

"Do you have any proof they only played the first few fights without building up any points?"

Uh, yeah! The words they use to form the sentences in their reviews are proof. This game is as 1:1 as you can get, no question. Anyone who claims otherwise hasn't upgraded their fighters abilities, it's as simple as that.

I didn't like the game for the first hour or so of playing, it didn't feel 1:1 and the hit detection felt way off (this is pretty much the negatives that most reviews come out with). Then I spent less than an hour in training and upgraded my fighters abilities to about 50 each and I couldn't believe how accurate the controls became. My fighters abilities are all around 70 now and it's even better still.

This game is a 7 out of 10 (6 out of 10, I can accept but the 1s 2s and 3s are just ridiculous). Movemodos review is the most in depth and accurate review I have read about this game.

IGN hates PS3.

The Fight is misunderstood and wrongly reviewed.

It's one thing to review a game you don't like but still fundamentally hits on all cylinders. You can't put personal bias in the way of what's important -- That being the uninformed consumer.

I feel the industry owes Sony and them an apology for this one. I love the Fight and it works 100% perfect for me and my crew and we're gonna jam the hell out of it tonight after our gig just like we did last night while enjoying copious amounts of Guinness and Lemoncello.

to each his own, but if you are a fan of fighting sim , looking for a good workout game or are interested in this game in the least bit then get this game. this game is a good game with 1:1 motion.

Console Domination: The Fight: Lights Out Review

Console Domination writes: I'm sure that it's an abiding dream amongst many that some day, some how and some where, there will be a motion control combat game that's worth playing. Whether using swords or fists the hope that there will be a Motion Control game with 1:1 movement capture is one that persists. The Fight: Lights Out for Playstation Move is one of the latest attempts at capturing that dream. Unfortunately, it fails. Quite badly as well I might add.

Come now, surely we could have used the Fight: Lights Out demo back when the Move first launched. Unless of course Sony wasn't confident enough with the game for a demo. Hm...

ftwrthtx4768d ago

Maybe they are hoping for a quick pick-me-up on sales of the title.

Liefx4768d ago

That game is amazing. Great workout because unlike the Wii you actually gotta move around.

NJShadow4768d ago

I have heard of folks that play it on a nightly basis for a workout. It's supposed to be quite good in that respect.

dragon824768d ago

Looks like a pretty weak lineup this week.

ftwrthtx4768d ago

The free Killzone 3 map pack for PlayStation Plus subscribers doesn't look weak, but the rest does

ftwrthtx4768d ago

Free is my favorite price range :-)

dragon824768d ago

I agree the free map pack is nice but that will probably be the only thing I download which makes this a pretty weak update.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO4768d ago

K3 Maps and Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
Pretty much makes an awesome content update in the store.

dragon824768d ago

Only if you are interested in Dungeon Hunter: Alliance. I am also pretty much over Killzone 3 at this point so I probably wont even play the maps much.

Taggart4514768d ago

I've been waiting for Might & Magic since....like early last year. AWESOME!

Sev4768d ago

I'm a huge fan of Capybara Games. It'll be great.

decimalator4768d ago

Yeah, me too. I might have to pick it up

whateva4815d ago (Edited 4815d ago )

this game gives you a really good workout

zootang4814d ago

You know what someone needs to do. A before and after.

Before being a picture of when they got the game and an after when they have got the Platinum trophy.

HungryGoku4814d ago (Edited 4814d ago )

The troll that gave you a disagree hasn't played it. This game is very good workout you will be in a lot of pain the first day.

Quagmire4814d ago

I'm thinking about getting this game, however it requires me to buy an extra move. I want the Move to make me do excercise, however I am torn between this and Sports Champions. which is the best, or are there any other Move games which enforce physicality?

Balt 4815d ago (Edited 4815d ago )

I love it. I flooded the developers e-mail almost daily back in December, complaining and pissing and moaning about certain things they needed to work on.

They gave me absolutely everything I asked for yesterday. Save for the Jump rope, which they said they are working on too.

I haven't had but 40 min total with the new content, but I'm already climbing the leader-boards in stats. I'll be ranked number 1 by tomorrow or Friday in the rubber dummy and the C. training. I should be 3 right about now on the rubber dummy because I just got through with a 15min session about an hour or two ago and had to end earlier than I wanted to to tend to my little girl.

Love this game. Buy it. It works.

Parapraxis4814d ago (Edited 4814d ago )

I will be buying it, the fitness aspects really appeal to me.

Great post BTW.

I, unlike many reviewers, am interested in building up my character with WORK and making him the best.
The new DLC just adds to my desire to pick this title up.
if I hadn't just spent 110+$ on Dead Space 2 and KZ3 I'd have grabbed this by now.

I guess I can play a bit of Sports Active 2 for now, but this game (as a huge MMA fan) would probably suit me much better.

specialguest4814d ago

Definitely looking into this.

cochise3134814d ago

I think I'm going to get this game; I have a second move controller coming, so this game will be bought soon.

FunAndGun4814d ago

I haven't even checked the store update from Tuesday yet because of Killzone 3.

Will definitely be buying this though, The Fight is a great workout.

jaseo4814d ago

I always did 1 or 2 heavy bag sessions for fitness. This new DLC will add some variety..

there is some leg movement too!
