I've played Mass Effect 1 and 2 for the Xbox360. Carried over my character from the first to the sequel and would like to carry him over to the third installment as well.
HOWEVER!
I'd much much rather, now given the option, buy Mass Effect 3 for the PS3 when it comes out, though I'd have to start from scratch with a new Shepard. I don't wanna do that! Not after the dozens upon dozens of hours I've spent molding him into my own character.
'Tis a dilemma of galactical proportions. Then again, I do kind of regret bonking Jack in the second. I should have woo'd Tail instead.
I bought ME 1 and 2 for xbox. finished 1 and started 2 but when my xbox started sputtering I traded it in before it died on me and bought a gaming pc. Needless to say I bought Me1 and 2 on pc and started all over. not that bad.
Believe it or not, I do have my reasons and, trivial as they may be, they all add up to a significant whole.
Trophies play a big part yes; I am a trophy addict. I've got platinums on every single game I've played on my PS3 (although that's only 9 so far tbh) and for the most part I enjoy getting them. Conversely, I never gave a toss about Achievements, despite owning my 360 two years before my PS3. Strange I know. Just is what it is.
I far prefer the Dual Shock controller. My 360 controller, through no fault of my own, is becoming increasingly unruly to use. The right trigger squeaks and the left stick is stiff and doesn't lodge in the center anymore when I let go of it. Very irritating. I just generally prefer the button layout of the DS as well, plus it doesn't require batteries and is lighter on the whole.
And, bit of an obvious one this, the PS3 is quieter. It doesn't sound like a vacuum when I turn it on. Big plus for me this is.
So there you go. It matters to me.

@Acquiescence You can use that comic book thing Bioware is adding to fix your character like he was in the xbox or even make him better so I think you wont lose much(or nothing at all)
Lmao.. two accounts, both with 2 bubbles. Really? But, those reasons you mentioned are lame. Lame! There is really no difference between trophies and achievements. If your controller is doing that, then, uh, iduno.. clean it? The only one I'd give you is the 360 is louder. Sometimes that can get annoying.
I don't like Mass Effect, but I think it would be a real hoot if ME3 was Sony's big Dec. 12th exclusive. I know it won't happen that way, but I just think that would be hilarious.
I think its awesome PS3 owners can now enjoy this franchise. Which means more money for this franchise, in which case means more awesome things to come...for this franchise.
At this point is just a game too much on the PS3! need more time and cash! Haven't even managed to pick up ModNation Racers and 3Dot G H ! please gaming gods forgive me!
Ea are loving Sony bigtime these days and no wonder ps3 generates them most cash out all consoles as they said last year and you just need to Look at FIFA 11 sales it's sold over 1 mill more on ps3
i really don't know how big this really is going to be on the PS3. i would think that the majority of people who have an interest in ME have pick it up on 360 or PC, and most won't want to leave that character to just play it on their PS3.i tend to play more on my PS3 then my PC, but im not switching.
only reason i would even think of it would be because of DLC. i hate having to buy points. i just want to use cash to buy the damn thing, and thats how the PS3 works.
360 isn't actually 'getting' metal gear, Rising is just a hack and slash with Metal Gear slapped on there for sales. Kojima isn't even involved with the project.
if you think this game is gonna be the same quality as the actual MGS series, i wouldn't hold my breath.
yea when you get mgs4 or even the rumored mgs5 on 360 then that would be huge for u. I would say versus 13 too but i have a weird feeling that will be multiplatform

Just do me one favout Bioware. MAKE THE PS3 VERSION FIRST! I am not joking. Do it on the PS3 THEN port it to the 360 and PC. Tired of the excuses and bad PS3 ports of multiplatform games. Satisfy the black beast first then feed the others. Please don't make the same stupid mistake most third party developers do.
That will never happen, becouse if they use the power of the black beast, people won't buy it from the 360 and that's is the reason why multiplat always keep the same, but the 360 has always lead the multiplat becouse the engine has more support than the 360 or PC.
Wild mass guessing (no pun intended). Everybody wants this to be Mass Effect related so badly, they're practically leapfrogging over each other to confirm it, even with scant real information.
I mean, hell, I want ME3 as well (if you couldn't tell by my avatar), but if this turns out to be something completely unrelated, I'm not going to disappoint myself by hyping myself up to the high heavens for no good reason.
Mass Effect has the ability to be bigger than what it is. Right now it's hot so Bioware is gonna pump another on out and cash in but I wish they would make another game using the Mass Effect Universe that was more open world and dealt more with exploration of space and planets than the chat sequences.
ill wait until i see more sites back this up but if this is true that has to mean the ps3 version will launch alongside the 360 version
